One thing to look out for is the TRD sticker. Anyone that puts a fake sticker on their car might not be the smartest person.

One thing to note: the tire date code is actually week then year. so 1121 means the 11th week of 2021. This is true for any tire made after 2000. Also you could see a week 53 if the year starts/ends on the right day of the week. Otherwise, great video!!

Thanks for that detailed checklist. I'd definately add AHC acumulators and it's system performance in general to the list if the car has one. It's also good to check the AC compressor performance. Not to mention checking the drive lever operation and center diff lock one. Good to look at the sunroof condition and operatuon if available. Anyway - a very helpful video for those who want to buy their best car in the world ❤

Mine looks very similar to yours - was a NJ 2006 truck - great walk through! I'll need to replace my muffler soon as well, small hole in it. Gotta love rust! I am going to be using a wire-wheel brush and the rust converter called Corroseal very soon!

Another easy quick tip; look at the brand of tires too while you’re there. If they’re mismatched, very old or of a totally unknown brand it could be a quick indication that the owner skipped on costs elsewhere too!

Great video, and very detailed. One thing I notice on yours is the upper radiator hose appears to be touching the engine beauty cover. The OEM hose has a slight bend away from that cover, but generics do not. Worth checking out as that hose is under pressure and could end up being compromised where it’s rubbing.
@cruisinwithgreg
@cruisinwithgreg 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the flag! I know for sure it is OEM becasue I replaced it in 2019. I wonder if the beauty cover is slightly warped and causing it to touch. I'll take a closer look!

I’m surprised at the rust on some of the metal components, a bit of CRC , WD40 or Enox spray would keep it pristine 👍👍👍and underneath so much rust very bad ,needs some TLC 😮

Yea being in the north east isn't the best for rust! Luckily the rust isn't on the frame

This looks fine to me for a rust belt vehicle. The frame has no rots, which is more than you can ask for with salt on the roads for up to 6 months of the year

If you find one where the owner has kept it up to date and took car of it, you should be good. There have only been a few things where I HAD to fix it in order to drive, most things I replaced were to keep it in top shape. Better a 200k mile Land Cruiser than any other vehicle!

215,000 on my 07 and running perfect, clean as a whistle and immaculate interior. No issues at all. These things are built like tanks and my absolute favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. Have an 05 Tundra w/ 213,000 and she runs perfect also. My wife drives a great 03 LX470 (hers has 170,000 miles) and it’s tip top as well. Only issue with hers is the drivers seat is a little tired. No rust or leaks on any of them. I agree w/ Greg “better a 200k Land Cruiser than any other vehicle” for sure! Did my research on all of them and made sure not to purchase anything from anywhere that salt was used on the roads and maintenance records were available pre-purchase. There’s still some great ones out there and they hold their value well.

This morning when I first opened the hood to look at the level of the fluid it was above the max line but after it pumped it went exactly on the Max line, which I think is normal? Also I just tested my accumulator and it took around 28 seconds to pump the break fluid before it stopped, it sounded good. One more thing, the Break fluid was above the max line before starting the engine this morning, but after it pumped it leveled with the max line. I think that's normal? Anyway this video is extremely helpful

Would you go back and purchase a 100 series over the newer more updated 200 series LX?
@cruisinwithgreg
@cruisinwithgreg 28 күн бұрын
I love this question. I love my 100 series. I like the 2001 but wish it had the increased power that the later 100s got. Not a huge fan of the early 200s but I really like the later 200s. Personally I enjoy having a vehicle that has this many miles and is considered older, it feels more unique. If money wasn't a factor I would totally love to have a 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition!

It’s a hard question to answer, if space was no object I would own both (and have). I first bought a 2005 LC about 5 years ago, then picked up a 21 LC and sold it within a year when prices went crazy. Last year I bought a 21 LX and would the 100. Now looking for another 100 series and will sell the LX. To me the 200 is objectively better in almost every way except styling. Agree with the uniqueness of the 100 series, loved driving around in my 2005 w/215k miles and actively trying to buy it back. That said, for cross county road trips and really getting out there on the trails, I prefer the newer vehicles just because I’m not that mechanically inclined and I like to travel allow or with one of my young kids. All depends on what you want and your use case, for me, feel like I can always get back into another 200 but the clean 100s are not easy to find at a reasonable price.

I feel like that is a good deal depending on the condition! The value has gone up over the past few years for sure. Ones in great condition could easily sell for more than that!
@leenestle
@leenestle 13 күн бұрын
Depending on condition, that sounds like a great deal. I sold my 2005 LC with 217k for $10.5k last year but it was well maintained with very minimal rust (would be considered rust free in New England or Midwest :)). Paint on mine was not in great shape.
