Excellent full walkthrough. I'm going to be taking my first lesson in about a month. I feel like it will be very helpful to have already gotten this explanation walking into my first lesson. This way, during the lesson, I can focus on the feel of the kite, the board, and the wind, rather than simply focusing on the instructions. Cheers!

@charlesosterlund7303 2 жыл бұрын
Hey William, definetly don't get impatient! It is a "lifestyle sport" that you will always be progressing. The key is to first "show up" - putting the time into getting out there and training. Now of course it helps to have a helping hand though hopefully KZbin videos like this also help out with the progress if you got nobody around. Will be coming out with some more videos in the next weeks just been busy working. Keep it up and let me know where your at in your progression! Got foiling yet?

Morning Janez, hope all is well. Those glasses were called amphibian spexs. The product was great though unfortunately it is discontinued due to serious health issues with the owner who made them himself in USA. They were polarized and floated. @@SoorinSeptimiuCooman not 35 years but 25+ :). In terms of set up your wind will play a factor and I made a general video about wingfoiling equipment it’s on the KZbin page. Though start with a board 130-150L board minimum. Foil around 2000-2400 mast 65-75 and then a wing probably 5-7M depending on wind.

I'm almost 61 and ... Picked up a new toy (second hands) as an early birthday, Christmas, New year, gift to myself. Each time I see these video on KZbin I really got that feeling of wanting to experience it myself to fly over the water on a foil. As my previous windsurfing run dates already something like 40y ago ... As I never did ; wave surfing, wake boarding, kite surfing, snowboarding, ... I know it will be a challenge. It looks easy and smooth on KZbin but reality seems waaaaay different. And as I don't like cold weather (and cold water) the days of good weather with wind are limited here on the lake. But if you wish to do it and don't try it ... you loose and maybe will regret of never tried. . Now waiting for good weather conditions to get out for the first time with this setup. Oh yes, I also got a Cabrinha Cross X2 Wing of 6m instagram.com/p/CievjELINK6/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

thank you for the lessons...in our gusty location, I found that keeping the wing leash on during the inflation and until deflation minimizes any chances of losing the handwing, and placing the front foot closer to the center of the board helped with the balance

Hey Tom! Learning on KZbin is one of the ideal ways to practice before and after a session since there is so much content out there! When I started 2 years ago +/- I used some of the earlier videos to get the basics and then with time refined and put it all together. If you have the chance to get some pointers by other rides with more experience or hire a coach/instructor for a few hours you can definetly get lots of progress in that way as well. If you are planning to come down to Cabarete let us know! We have had various KZbin Viewers visit us here in Cabarete wether just to ride and or learn to ride! Send me an email and we can get in touch - can give some pointers on where to stay/etc... Fall is a great time especially if you are flexible. Keep an eye on the wind/wave forecast and you can find some great times. Anything above 10-12knots will work and usually we are around 15/18 knots with some moments being 20-25+. Bottom line is we have conditions for a good time year round! Lots to do both on and off the water. Warm and windy regards Tom, CO

Hey there! It is just riding "switch" for some riders you will have a stronger side than the other and in this case (myself) I can do all 4 ways of riding without problem due to practice though the usual riding stance when starting out would be "heel side with wind to your back".
@charlesosterlund7303

At the point you mentioned I just did a gybe without changing feet and ended up in that stance - in future you will benefit from being able to ride heel side or toe side either direction to do transitions of all sorts.

Hey Tobin! Thank you for commenting and watching :). I believe I mention you want to remove the board leash from yourself incase a wave hits you and you let go of board on impact so it doesn't drag you / tangle with you. You can keep the wing leash on and keep wing high on way out to avoid it getting taken by a wave. Generally though if conditions are extreme you must adjust accordingly and also to your spot.
