Is this your design, did they use an architect? How do you even START a project like this. Until I saw this video I had no idea of the "barndominium" concept. I really like the idea of this for a rural area build, especially since my next home will have to have a shop. Was disappointed that you did not show the shop, as that is a huge interest for me. Otherwise...very very cool build/& video! QUESTION: in terms of building costs....how does this style of home compare to conventional home builds on a per square foot basis?? Is this cheaper, about the same or more expensive?

Great project. I love the high ceilings. Though I am not a fan if vinyl! I lived in NM 16 years. I never sold a client on vinyl when we installed windows and doors in their home design/builds. ALWAYS PELLA!! Guess what the Texas weather will do to the vinyl too! Dry it out, discolored, warps and twists then breaks down and splits. I'm a wood clad or wood windows with dbl to triple glazing in that type of heat. Lots of contraction and expansion. Great build, wonderful flow on the interior but you can hear him talking in the great room down in the Mstr Bdrm. Not enough sound breaks built in. Too open. I wouldn't use metal roofing either, personal choice. I love the deep porch and breezeway.

By looking at the fixtures and surfaces here, it's obvious that this isn't a low end home. Apples to apples though, how does this sort of build compare to others? Idk how it compares to conventional homes as we don’t build the same way. We only use solid core doors, we use 5/8” drywall on walls and ceilings, high efficiency HVAC, 9 ft ceilings minimum, 2x8 ceiling joists minimum, etc. Our homes come with a metal roof standard, but it’s a big upgrade on conventional homes. Our walls are 8” thick as well.

+1. .. Very nice completed Barndominium home presentation! .. Is there a KZbin upload where the high-performance structure details are on view? .. A full-blown GeoThermal / Solar Elec./H2O system could be a hoot. .. Look to old sckool buildings throughout Europe, and specifically Germany for those systems. .. Just a thought . .. "Barndominium Can Do". .. Nice work folks!

Have built 2 now at 40x60 finished out for about 160k Theirs start at like 230 for 30x60. Actual price is probably much more. The fact that they never mention price in their videos is a good sign they are very expensive

An abundance of cheap pine trim! Ugly windows. Saleaman wearing shades indoors! Hone Depot cabinets. Pantry shelves held up by cheap brackets. A mess of a space with potential!

Not pine trim. Not Home Depot Caninets. Glasses are transitions, so I was outside so they were dark. Anything else?

The exterior is really pedestrian to the point where it kind of looks trailer trash-ish. That may be the intent with the bardominium look, but I wonder if an edgier feel could have been achieved by going corrugated iron (mounted vertically) on the exterior walls instead of the painted vinyl siding. The interior looks ok except I wish a smaller diameter was chosen for the pot lights. The ones chosen gives the space a basement vibe. Also, I would have gotten rid of the pony wall on the bathroom and gone all glass instead. Finally, I would have chosen a better way to secure that top shelf that goes all around that room. The exposed shelf bracket that was used gives that room a garage-like feel.
