ARK: Survival Evolved (How To Build A Beginner Raft Pirate Ship)

This tutorial is for a Beginner/Starter raft pirate ship. In this guide, I will show you step by step how we built this small raft pirate ship using no mods and official settings you can follow along or just get some inspiration for your own builds. Hopefully James sees this for his next build since he can teach this more people than i can. To anyone starting out, you can snap walls, foundations, railings, etc. using a specific key/button on your gaming center of choice. I do not know how to do these on mobile, switch, or pc but you should be able to do these on all platforms, so find a video on youtube that will show you. I play on console and the default key (Y or Triangle) will rotate the object 180° allowing you to place a wall facing inside or outside. The blue color is the inside green color is the outside. Think of a plain wooden wall in game the inside is the lighter colored flat side and the outside is the darker color with the tree bark. You can also rotate between different snap points using a different key/button. On console it is R1. This way if you are trying to place a fence foundation in a specific way or snap a ceiling in place, just press the required key to cycle through some of the different snap points on your screen. I can’t set the triangle foundations down, ever... 😑 to shape the front of the boat. (Update to this old comment) if you wish to lay down the triangle foundations to shape the front of your boats, back end, whatever. - lay down thatch ceiling, not the wooden one I was using. Works for me now.

Yes, thatch ceilings make it easier because of the snap points.

I’m not sure about PC, but on Ps4 you can now turn foundations into blocks. When you highlight a foundation, like you would Do to repair or delete one, you now have an option to turn an open bottom foundation into a block. So your wood foundation looks more like a stone one. This could potentially save you some resources at around 18:40 in the vid! Love the design, I will definitely be using this in the future!

I think you are right and it can be changed on P.C now. would give an extra 6 slots to play with on the official servers.

I'd suggest adding a sloped roof to the tip, Then making it more solid, It ends up looking more like a pirate ship.

Yer that's still handy trick in other building projects but the fence foundation and post bring it straight down to the correct level on a raft.

If you center the pillar the way sinking foundations start, you should be able to snap a fence foundation to it I believe.

What level can you start raft building?

Im on PS4 and whenever I put my ceiling down as foundation in order to attach actual foundation, (after the first couple steps in the video) my foundation automatically breaks and I waste it. Like if you place foundation on top of foundation the original breaks. My foundation breaks putting it where my ceiling is. Is there a way to fix this?

I figured it out, the water needs to be deep enough to allow the foundation to be placed it seems.

BRO, i just came on here spesifically to tell you that yes they fucking do. I just spent HOURS building that fucking boat only to have some giant assholefish dunk on my shit. i tried to escape with my Dino, but we were both eaten by sharks. im now trying to figure out how the fuck im going to get all my gear back from the middle of the fucking ocean surrounded by goddamn fucking sharks before it despawns.

since when did this guide or any of my playthroughs feature any mod? This and all my guides have been done with the base game only. I worked out how many items can be played on the raft and even had a few slots left over.

@@realbkg i might know what you are referring to, but what he said roughly was that some of the s+ features such as the ability to pick up a wooden wall within 30 seconds was added to vanilla Ark in an update a while back. He used to use s+ because of its clear advantages and ease of use (as do most pc players i would assume) but since the update adding some of its features to vanilla, s+ is less needed.
