What difference does that make? Renewable infrastructure prices have been falling, just put a solar / battery install on my house 3 years ago payback was 15 years now its 6 estimated saving of the system 44,000
@Watch-Crazy13 сағат бұрын
@SlowhandGreg Because in order for China to manufacture the majority of the worlds EVs, batteries, solar panels, wind farms... not only will take decades, they will need to at the very least treble their coal power station capacity, now, if you take into consideration that there are a total of 2,422 coal power stations globally including China's, we know that roughly 30% of the remaining 1,261 will be gone by 2030, that's 378 power stations less, however we also know that theses will be vastly offset by China's underestimation (as shown in previous years data) of 500 new much larger coal power stations. So an actual increase of 122 power stations and as these are to be mega power stations the output will invariably be much higher, so, how's all this net zero nonsense going to help, when the evidence shows otherwise?

The leibour government want to build another 2,600 at by 2030 at a cost of £48B which will likely be a lot more than that, which they believe will be sufficient enough to power all EVs, heat pumps... Well if 11k of them aren't scrapping the barrel, how the [swear word] is an additional fraction of that going to make any ounce of a difference other than crippling the country.

Donnachadh McCarthy is talking absolute bollocks, a wind generator doesn't produce free energy, firstly you have to pay for the wind generator and that goes on to the electricity bill, each one costs several £million, secondly you have to build transmission infrastructure to get the electricity from generator to user, another cost comes in maintenance of the generators and transmission infrastructure which costs around £250,000 a year, why else do you think that they are so heavily subsidised by the tax payer, Miliband has actually increased the subsidy to almost double the previous level otherwise the companies wouldn't bother developing any more wind farms as they are not profitable for them. The whole green energy drive is a massive con on the British people, the other point as to why fossil fuels were so expensive was because despite huge coal reserves and oil and gas reserves we pandered to the eco lobby and stopped exploiting our own sources and were importing coal, oil and gas that was much more expensive to do so, we have 550 years worth of coal in the ground but are crippling this country instead of using it so Miliband and Starmer can play at eco warriors, they are morons.

It's also a fact that higher CO2 levels have a 'greening' effect on the Planet and more food is being produced across the World now than has ever been. We import and use electricity from the Netherlands produced by coal powered power stations at the same time we are closing down our own coal powered plants. Is this really going green?

If we're following global prices why is our electricity up to 4 times more than other countries..I might have the maths wrong on this but why did the interviewer not ask why our energy costs are so much higher than other countries ? It feels like we're being scammed

The cheaper this renewable energy gets the more our industry disappears and the poorer we get. Please explain.
@GeoffHome-u6r14 сағат бұрын
Renewable Energy has always been uncompetitive. One of the first wind farms at Mersey Docks relied on Government subsidies to be built. It wasn’t possible to build any more because they weren’t competitive after tax payer priming was removed. In any case, unless you live in a sunny climate it can only typically supply 10% of demand. Leave it to the market to make the decisions, if it’s possible to build economically industries will respond. What do Labour politicians and Net Zero zealots know about engineering? They just have an empty space above their mouths. All they are doing increasing costs and impoverishing our country.

No running costs. Every single turbine requires MAINTENANCE. So expensive is that M that in the USA when a farm starts to wear out in bulk the whole site gets abandoned!!!!!!! Blades wear....at the joints....in the fatigue of thier construction ....and unexpectedly very heavy wear on their surfaces, chipping and thining. Friction on the air and particulate in the air like birds, insects and grit/ sand/dust. For a blade to work it requires an aerofoil section.And the more that section becomes warn it loses laminar flow across it and the ability to turn in the wind productively. So gangs of men are out risking their lives on the end of ropes, abseiling down 80foot blades...filling holes and making patches. In an ordinary power station sealed bearings are accessible and need no serviceing , lubrication is simple and easily applied. Etc. In 15 to 25 years turbines are gone, worn out ,kupputt, defunct. And at the end of life of an enormous blade where does it go????? Covered over by being buried in the group....what an env disaster!!!!!
