3mm zip fiber is almost bullet proof. I recommend it for any install. DAC cables will also do the job but once you start adding equipment/connections, It's a nightmare to troubleshoot, replace and cable manage. Just my advice from a data center technician. Also, thank you for all the Synology vids. Very helpful!

Which adapter do you use for the 25Gb fiber at your computer?

I love the site magic! I bought a Unifi Express for my grandpas place so I can remote into his FireTV stick from my house whenever he needs help.

How do you get unifi to play nice with Plex? Ever since i went to udm pro, my plex server says nearby instead of local. Something to do with dns re binding? Could you do a video explaining the fix??

I love the single row UniFi Enterprise switches with 24 ports. Makes clean wiring SO much easier than when they double-stack the ports on one half of the switch. I wish they would bring that form factor to their lower end switches.

Would you recommend patch panels or keystone modules inside a rack?
@lazr473 ай бұрын
I've found modular patch panels are easier to deal with and they're more flexible.

Nice setup. I want the Enterprise XG, but I have no reason to justify it, considering I have the enterprise with 2.5g. The only thing you are missing is an UPS

Link aggregation ineficient? You either configured it wrong, or you dont know what your're saying.
@justinknash3 ай бұрын
I think SpaceRex is referring to link aggregation being limited to a single client. Using LA you don't get the sum of the links aggregated for a single client but just one of the links per client.
@KapaGT3 ай бұрын
@@justinknash If the X clients are generating independent and diverse traffic patterns, the link aggregation will distribute traffic across the available links efficiently, depending on the LB you configured. Each client will benefit from the extra bandwidth provided by the aggregated link, I have lot of experience in that, and for sure, if it is inefficient it is not well configured.
@justinknash3 ай бұрын
@@KapaGT a single client will only be able to pull the bandwidth of the lowest connected link in link aggregation. I think that was the point that @SpaceRex was trying to make. To beat a dead horse, if you have a LA of two (2x) 1GB connections the fastest a single client will be able to see is 1GB.

Explains why you have this profile name. Lots of space in your racks.

Why did you put both patch panels together and both switches together (patch panel, patch panel, switch, switch)? It would be much easier to do patch cables if you did patch panel, switch, patch panel, switch.
@SpaceRexWill3 ай бұрын
It’s way easier to run the cables this way, down through the ceiling
