I successfully completed the Knott's Berry Farm 2 min hang challenge today (Buena Park, CA USA). Previous attempts were: 1:15, 1:30 & 1:47 seconds! This challenge is ALL about forearm & finger strength. I worked on doing two-arm dead hangs at home & got up to 3 min. Then I also worked on "One-arm" hangs which were about 1 second when I 1st tried, & in about 2 months I could one-arm hangs 45 sec. to 1 min. which drastically increases your forearm & grip strength. The bar at Knott's seem much bigger in diameter than the one in the video, I am 6 feet tall & my thumb can barely touch my index finger. The smaller diameter bar would be easier to complete the challenge since you could grip it better & it wouldn't spin out of your fingers as easily, but it would still be very hard.

The bar only rotates because of it not being mounted. Notice how there are multiple notches to put the bar in. It can be moved depending on the height of the person. No rotation at all by anything but the force of the mans weight on one side of the bar forcing it to rotate

Kolos it's not a normal bar, its on ball bearings making it slowly turn as you hang trying to force you to fall off, which the guy here accounts for with small wrist motions and slight swinging and they don't make that clear. It's the same way other things are fixed to make games nearly impossible, just because it's technically possible doesn't mean it's not a scam. Such as how knocking over bottles look easy, but they usually have some form of unseeable support behind them or under to make it much harder

Chris Loco please explain, how is it a scam.? You hang for 2 minutes, you win the prize. Simple as that. I've won this like a thousand times, I do it every time I see one at a carnival. Sure, it's over priced. But it's not a scam, everyone obviously knows that the bear isn't worth what you paid to do the challenge. But thats not why you don't, you do it for fun. If you are just trying to buy things for their legit price, go to the mall, not to a carnival. Don't just say, "you are easily scammed", explain yourself. Do they grease the bar.? Do they use a slow timer.? What is the scam.?

+HighCat710 It's only a "scam" in a loose sense. These stalls generally use a free-rotating bar instead of securing the bar like, say, a pull-up bar. This tricks people into thinking they can complete two minutes with ease, but some time in, a slight twitch will cause the bar to spin and your fingers will be gripping the sides; not a comfortable or sustainable position. If you observe previous contenders carefully or have experience with the setup then it's doable. But then again, all scams are doable if you know the trick...

If you can't grip to a bar for two minutes, rotating or not, that's on you. He didn't trick you into thinking you were capable of doing so. If people overestimate their own strength, that's not a scam. That's people being dumb. Also, I've done this so many time but I've never had a rotating bar. Either way though, a rotating bar doesn't matter if you have at least a decent amount of forearm strength, which you probably do if you can hold on for 2 minutes on a regular bar. But again, no one is tricking you into thinking you can do it.

HighCat710 You’re uninformed. A rotating bar will make it tremendously more difficult. In a normal pull-up hang you have your forearm, traps, delts, and back muscles to support you, but with a rotating bar you compromise your forearm and you start relying on your skeletal system and your joints because the bar will shift your wrist towards you, similar to suicide grip on a bench press.

I have anxiety and decided to be brave infront of the whole mall today. They have one of these hang things, so I decided to try it out(with lots of convincing my brian of course) little did I know not only would I not be able to get a grip because the bar spins. But the lady pushed on my knees cause pressure and I held for 6 seconds... 6 SECONDS. I cried after walking away because I was so embarrassed.

Why do people keep saying it fuckin rotate. Dipshit the bar come out of those grooves to be adjusted for different peoples heights and if you look in it is just a normal metal groove. The rotation isnt any kind of scam. It is just the fact that the humans weight will naturally go to one side as your hands wrap around and put your body weight and all the force behind it pulling the bar in the direction of your palms leaving your fingera to do the work... basically it takes strong forarms to hold it so it wouldnt rotate and this is misnamed because it is not a fucking scam
