Completing the Pattern

Adding another 1/8-note to our pattern enables us to play three classic folk rock songs: "Dust In the Wind" by Kansas, "Tuolumne" by Eddie Vedder, and "Just Breathe" by Pearl Jam.

Dennis; I just found this work of yours 2 days ago, my improvement is tremendous thanks entirely to you: I have played just over 2 years and am forming my “style”…. I’m running this pattern over “Nobody knows you when you’re down” (the completed pattern Sir) - I’m 59. I hope your not down brother And I damn sure know you from your work Thank you

Hi Dennis, Is the revised and newest Travis picking pattern able to now be used on all of your tutorials or just the three new songs? Thanks much, Mike Vance (Subscriber)

This new pattern can be substituted for any song using the old pattern. They’re both in 4/4 time. Check out both of my covers of Toulumne. The oldest one is with the old pattern, the latest one is with the new pattern. The main difference is the new pattern will make it a little more difficult to get back to the pinch on the next measure, since you only have an eighth note to do it in. Good question Mike. Thanks.

There’s an “&” in between every downbeat. Refer to the bottom of the patterns.
