I was 18 when this album first came out and I heard the singles on the radio and I went ahead and bought the cassette tape (I didn't have a turntable back then) and I really think this is a truly amazing album. to this day 2024 ; the tracks are still fresh to me and I have since gotten the CD version of this album and still keep playing it over and over!

Wow ! Thanks so very much for this. One of my favourite all-time videos and the songs are terrific. Had no idea this was produced by David Foster. Great stuff here !

What Fee doesn't know according to this video, David Foster produced Alice Cooper's 1978's "From The Inside" album. So far it was the very first straight up rock 'n' roll album he ever produced.

I REALLY do wish Fee would stop saying Foster had never done a rock record before The Tubes...he did From The Inside with Alice Cooper three years earlier!!

I wrote a letter to The Tubes one time, and I was curious about the October 5, 1980 show at The Palace Of Fine Arts and asked if there were any songs from The Completion Backward Principle album on their set list. When I got a response, whoever in the band wrote to me and said, "Sorry, I couldn't find a set list from our records. But I do know that The Completion Backward Principle was recorded in August, 1980." But one website says it was recorded in the Fall of 1980. Mr. Hate was based on a true story about a fugitive named Mark McDermand who was accused of killing his Mom and Brother. He claimed that he didn't do it. He would leave notes. Quote, "This is the warning of my own hand. Never corner a frightened man. I may kill somebody trying to escape, You better listen to Mr. Hate." which is the lyrics in the song. I googled Mark McDermand in the San Francisco Times. It turned up that the killing didn't take place until October 16, 1980. Mr. Hate is on The Completion Backward Principle album. So how could the whole album possibly be recorded in August, 1980 if the killing didn't take until October, 1980? Well, speaking of Fee Waybill saying that David Foster never did a rock n' roll before, the first rock 'n roll David did was Alice Cooper's "From The Inside." Released in November, 1978. Well, Fee Waybill said that Talk To Ya Later was the last song recorded in the studio for The CBP album in which is the first track on the album. Mr. Hate could've been the last song recorded in the studio for the CBP album. So unless if Mr. Hate was the last song recorded, there is absolutely no way that Talk To Ya Later was recorded in between August and September, 1980. Both Mr. Hate and Talk To Ya Later had to've been recorded anywhere from late October to early, mid or late November, 1980.
