There is a scene where he confess what he did to Emma. It can go horribly depending of Jacob attitude. To get that scene, you need to make Emma infected on the island and then cured when Chris Haccket is dead. You also need to save Jacob from being captured. As Gab mentions herself, the Hacketts have so many ways to make this go infinitely better: Travis revealing he's Chris's brother and telling them there won't be anyone at the camp, Chris later on sending Travis to the camp to keep the kids inside (quoting the hunters around and wanting to be sure nothing happens), the rest of the family just explaining that they're there to hunt dangerous animals and that the kids need to stay inside... it basically boils down to the Hackett's complete lack in social skills. Everyone can see that, the game is intentionally designed like this where a first playthrough will almost guarantee a death on an npc. In a real world that is dumb, but in a video game it is totally fine. If there is a criticism, they could have at least make some choices smarter or what a real person would do on that scenario.
@thestitchwithsami2 жыл бұрын
One very slight nitpick, Chris couldn't have sent Travis to the camp to keep the kids inside. He was locked up in the jail cell and by the phone call Chris takes--when Jedidiah asked if he'd heard from him, Chris says "No, should I have?" "He's gone quiet." "He's probably staying out of the way."--the family hadn't found out and let him out yet. Who knows when that happens, because it's not until hours later that he's in the living room with his ma. But on a less pedantic note, yes, I agree. In my playthrough, as soon as I realized the hunters were not a threat, I was yelling at my screen "USE YOUR WORDS" pretty much every time they were around, but especially in the tussle with Kaitlyn.

That’s the thing with this game, it is quite considerably branched (more so than Until Dawn) but unlike Until Dawn or even The Dark Pictures, the extent of the branching isn’t obvious, since you have to go out of your way to get some of the rare scenes, like with the various alternate scenes depending on who you get infected, or the secret endings like you mentioned. Honestly the problem I had with the game's main writing is like.. You can play Ryan in the start as the "i'm going to do what Chris told me to do" and then.......the character just doesn't do that? He hangs out outside at the firepit with everyone else regardless of what you pick. Its like, the options don't matter to the story sometimes and that's kinda frustrating from a player perspective when you're supposed to have a level of agency into what these characters are going to do. And Ryan's not the only one who falls victim to this renege on player choices throughout the chapters. Like with Jacob and the 'call out' prompt when he's first alone and naked.. the guy still calls out even if you don't want him to a second later!! Also the game teaches you that Kaitlyn's the best shot, but then kind of punishes you when you try to give her the gun at the start to go help Nick? Weird writing choices all around in some parts. Imagine if Ryan had stayed in the Lodge by himself (or even with Dylan accompanying because their dynamic is the best in the entire game) while the rest of the group are at the fire pit and he had've run into Laura earlier because he's paying attention to whats going on outside and see's a woman with a gun and an eyepatch sneaking around?? That could've actually been a point toward the Hackett house investigation way earlier on and shake the entire story acts up.
@Marigold110372 жыл бұрын
The game is really weird about making choices, because 80% of your choices don't matter and will lead to the same outcome with just a slight difference For instance Emma escapes Max regardless of whether you use the bear spray or taser, but it just changes whether or not you get a photo of him Same as how Jacob can jump in the water to get the rotor arm or go after abi, but if he gets the rotor arm you go after abby anyway The real choices come from messing up QTE's, but it really feels like it should be the other way around right?

@wiiink2 жыл бұрын
imo the reason it feels like the choices don't matter is mostly because of how they keep shuffling the groups/pairs around and most of the characters in the endgame either have barely interacted onscreen like Dylan/Kaitlyn or Laura/Ryan, or just have no use in the story past the first few chapters like Jacob, Nick, and Abi. I feel like Until Dawn's technique of having the characters in designated pairs for most of the game gave them time to have their relationships grow and they should have had the dead characters' roles be taken up by other characters or combined characters' roles together so it doesn't feel like their plotline just dies off if they're still alive like Jacob just wandering around the woods in his underwear for basically the entire game.
@02091992able2 жыл бұрын
@@Marigold11037 The thing is with the decision of taser or bear spray isn't about survival per say but if you use the bear spray Emma won't be able to take a picture of Max for evidence. One thing I feel that could make this game much better to better incorporate everyone in the ending is this. If Jacob takes the rotor arm and chooses the best path to pick it back up in the lake, he can actually pick it up. When he returns to the group at the camp fire, he auto chooses to keep the rotor arm himself, and for the rest of the game, he was mostly on his own. If he is released from his cage at the Hackett House, he runs back to the lodge for the final showdown in chapter 10. He puts the rotor arm in car and while he tries to start the car, the people in the security room as well as Kaitlyn/Dylan sees it happen as well. At that point, you have the choice to fight, hide or run to the car. If you run to the car, your entire group can escape the camp ground and be permanently safe by leaving. One last QTE to shoot Caleb using a regular shell or silver shell could be a nice touch outside if you choose that route. That would really make it feel like Jacob had a bigger role in the story/game and really help bring everyone together at the end. One more thing which would of been nice, is in the last showdown in the lodge, it could have been cool to have all remaining werwolves alive be present for the lodge showdown. Caleb is the main required one, but if you got Emma infected(not trapped in the cellar), Nick is released, Chris Hackett is still alive or Dylan infected, you can add more werwolves to the mix and then you have to then be careful which ones you take down and which one you use the silver shell on. That would make a cool aspect to the final showdown to add stakes. Instead, no matter who is a wear wolf, you always just fight Caleb, who you don't care about at that point so you can take him down without much of a moral problem. This also helps unify everyone at the end of the game, to truly make it feel everyone is at the lodge(not including Laura, Ryan and Travis) Also lastly for some reason, Abigail can become bit, but she can't turn. That probably should be fixed. And adding the dynamic that if she is bit before Nick transforms, if she doesn't shoot Nick, Nick approaches Abigail sniff, but doesn't bite and runs out. That would keep the writing and story consistent, keeping her alive. If she is bitten around the same time as Nick, since it is a smaller bite, she could turn at the same time you investigate the van and find Emma. That could add more chaos to that scene and add more potential that there would be a fight there with 1 or 2 werwolves. Lastly, during the credits, they should of had similar interviews like Until Dawn when you talk about the events of the game but also have the characters show/talk about the evidence. Would of been much more fun that the boring podcast at the end. It also gives you a better representation of showing how the evidence you discover truly makes it feel like you found items to prove your innocence and incriminate the Hackett Family. I think if you fix all these things, it would make the game feel a lot more of a complete experience
@rememberJAW2 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, last thing which could of been better, if they had written one last line which the car that you totalled at the scrapyard that showed Kaitlyn investigating the rotor arm in the car, if she had just said that the rotor arm in the car was busted or incompatible with our car, then it would of made abandoning the scrapyard make so much more sense. Or you can make an alternative storyline where you gain a working rotor arm, you get the car working. Dylan stays in the car and gets it ready while Kaitlyn tries to find Emma, Abigail but as she finds them, Caleb gets involved and you have a new fight sequence with him with different routes through the cabin to get back to the car. You could even also have Dylan be tempted to leave without everyone when he notices a fight going down in the lodge. Maybe having one jerk decision of Dylan leaving everyone behind by driving off could add some spice at the end.
@Marigold110372 жыл бұрын
I definitely think there needed to be more of these ideas in the game I really would've liked a moment where a character was immune for some reason, or where a character is bitten and doesn't know, so another werewolf won't attack them. It could even lead to another "Do we shoot emily because she was bitten by the wendigo" scene, where the other characters have to decide whether that person is infected or just immune
@elle87862 жыл бұрын
I think one of the problems with the writing is that they stopped writing the characters once they were able to die. Instead of writing as if everyone lived and had roles to fill, then either removing and transferring their parts if they died, the writers wrote for the characters who were definitely still alive and everyone else was an afterthought.

@@MurderMondays The biggest disappointment with Jacob is that if you choose to steal the rotor arm from the car, and risk drowning to get it back, it basically amounts to nothing. Like yeah he found the corpse in the lake, then he rambles about it to the group back at the campfire before running back naked into the woods. But it all amounts to nothing. You don't get an option to fix the car with the rotor arm and the corpse is never brought up again until the ending. Would have been nice to have an alternate scenario like if you break the fuel line or lost the rotor arm than you go to the scrapyard. Or Jacob turns into a werewolf and we have to trap him to grab the rotor arm in his torn pant pocket or something. Or if Jacob isn't infected and has the rotor arm, he can fix the car and drive off alone. Or choose to stay and wait for everyone. Basically so many scenarios they could have done with that plotline and it's like they completely forgotten about it. And he also never gets punished for sabotaging the car in the first place. Sure Emma gets pissed at him, but that's one very specific scenario. Most times he either ends up alone crying in the woods, or infected and killed with no one ever finding out about what he did.

as a canadian, my tip when your wheels get stuck in snow and start to just spin: 1. make sure to always a have a small bag of course sand or clay cat litter 2. dig out the wheels while the car is turned off 3. sprinkle some sand/cat litter around and slightly in front on the affected tired. 4. pack the sand/cat litter down just a bit and wait about 1-2 minutes. 5. turn car back on and drive away . . the sand/cat litter helps to create traction. especially in sludgy conditions when the snow is greasy and packed solid and unbudging. waiting a minute or 2 allows the sand/cat litter to settle enough that t won't just fly away and be useless when you drive but still be useable for increased traction (waiting too long with the cat litter may result in it getting too wet and making the situation worse by turning into just a puddle of clay). if you go with sand, course it best because the finer the sand, the softer and more slippery it is and the less helpful it is for creating traction. if you go with cat litter, you want clay because paper and silica gel litter either won't melt the snow and just get flung away or they'll be too absorbent and just become a slippery mess (plus silica gel isn't the most environmentally friendly. you need to clean it up really really thoroughly after getting unstuck). You could probably use some other cat litters like corn or walnut shell but they're ridiculously expensive and don't work quite as well as clay.

It makes a lot more sense in the beginning knowing that Travis was concerned about "ghost hunters" coming in to the quarry at night, which is why he's so aggressive about them showing up, and why he takes so long (until Chris literally tells him that Max and Laura are the missing counselors) to believe that they actually were camp counselors coming early. But also knowing that EVEN MORE calls into question the communication skills of the Hacketts bc dude... you didn't even ask your brother if there was any counselors missing OR CHRIS HIMSELF not asking HIS COP BROTHER if he heard anything weird about a max brinly or a laura kearny. Dylan is one of the only werewolves that will not kill anyone when he turns. His turning is probably one of the most noble ones he will tell Kaitlyn to run away before he turns. All the others will get aggravated, selfish and angry at whomever they are around before turning. Jacob can maul Emma if she was infected by Max and then cured when Chris is killed if he never found the silver bracelet. Emma can also kill Abi in two situations and Dylan and Kaitlyn in one. Ryan only gets killed by Chris or Silas or from blood loss. Most of Kaitlyn's deaths involve Silas at the junkyard if she went alone and Caleb in the lodge. Abi and Emma are the easiest one to take actions to ensure that they will survive the night.

It doesn't involve being aggressive. It involves you not breaking into the cabin to get Abi and Emma's bags. So, when Ryan tells them to hide in the cabin, they have to force it open instead of just sneaking into it because the door is already open. It draws the attention of Silas the werewolf that would normally tear into Dylan's hand and having it you have to choose to spare or cut off his hand. People argue with me that it isn't Silas, but it is. He is covered in blood and it kind of hides the white skin but its him.

So in previous games, collecting "evidence" or whatever it was called at the time may have affected some choices, some dialogue, etc. but it never affected the ending of the game. In this game, (for what little of an ending there is) the entire ending is DETERMINED by the evidence collected. So it makes sense that evidence resets each playthrough or you'd never be able to get all the endings once you had enough evidence. What DOESN'T make sense is having to collect all the evidence in one playthrough for meta purposes like achievements. That's some kind of bullpucky right there.

Travis could have: 1. Identified himself as Chris Hackett's brother and called them on their crap. 2. Tailed Max and Laura to the motel. 3. Arrested them for DUI (driving under the influence), claiming that they were too tired to drive, kept them in the jail, and let Chris bail them out in the morning. Thinking about it, he probably didn't take them to the jail because that's where Caleb and Kaylee were being held while the electrified cages were being built, the fuses from the Lodge being used in the control system at the House. Because he knew that the others were contained, the only way that Laura and Max could have seen 'something' in the woods would be if Sylas was in the area, so Travis was in a hurry to tell his father and brother of the sighting. He would have rushed to join them, which was why he couldn't tail them to the motel. Still, he could have identified himself as Chris' brother and told them his brother wouldn't be there to meet them.

Getting people infected can actually be a good thing! Hope Gab can keep Caleb alive in this playthrough as well :D related spoiler below Kaitlyn doesn't get killed by Caleb if she's infected, and they can both survive the night that way iirc Killing Silas is quite necessary to keep most people alive though... which is really sad. afaik he bit one (1) person, without killing them, when he was (from his point of view) dragged away from his home, in an ongoing fire set by his "kidnappers". He didn't deserve any of this, same as everyone else in the story.

I agree with what you said about there being too many characters! Well... Sort of, I think the biggest struggle is just the game isn't long enough to provide content for each of the characters. I did enjoy this game more than I thought I would, but I really didn't care about any of the characters really aside from Dylan and Laura. It was also just a struggle in the plot with werewolves being called so easily right at the start. With Until Dawn, Wendigos were like a big shock. I remember everyone hitting that point in the game and going wait wtffff is THAT. It was a fun twist if you went in blind whereas here it was just obvious from the start what was coming. Anyway all criticism aside, I think this game was a nice experience. Just make games heckin longer so the story doesn't feel so rushed, devs!!! I definitely think they ended up cutting content from the game because of deadlines/Covid. You can kinda feel the areas that were stitched together where other stuff used to be. -Why does the camp store have a metal cage, it felt like a place you could have trapped a werewolf. That or the backroom. -The entire history of the Hackett's and rum tunnels had no meaning. UNLESS of course the original idea had been that Septimus Hackett was the Alpha werewolf, making everything turn full circle, and also completing the 'symbolism' of the werewolf crawling through the painting in the lodge. -They had electrified cages for the three infected people, but didn't use them. Constance and Jebidiah clearly don't actually care about the fatalities on their property, did they let their grandkids out on purpose? -The love triangle felt incomplete, like Ryan and Kaitlyn should have gotten a duo chapter, which would have actually allowed Ryan to 'choose' one. But with the content cut, caused Ryan to default to a 'neutral' answer, where there originally was probably three choices. -The scrapyard felt like the continuation of the 'broken fuel line' option, not the rotor arm, as Kaitlyn wants Max's vehicle to run, not search it for parts. And when Dylan drops it, it's considered a 'failed expedition'. Rotor arm completely forgotten. And of course, the biggest hole. Abigail magically ceases to be infected after 'White Noise' regardless of how she was bitten. It counts for the achievement but not the endcard. She shows super strength briefly when grabbed by Bobby, proving that she was atleast MEANT to be infected. I assume that they couldn't get the actress back in to film the subsequent infection scenes.

You needed motivation for Jason to sabotage the car, and for Nick to chase after Abi in the forest, but besides that the rest was padding. Laura's chapter needed to be cut down too. Although I do agree that it was a horribly selfish thing for Jacob to do, if you think of it from an emotional teenage/young adult perspective of “It’ll be just one more night! We will leave in the morning!”, there would be, generally, few negative repercussions in real life (most likely). I’m not sure why they would send the counselors home at dusk either… in the mountains… instead of an early morning wake up. (Edit: I meant in terms of the rotor arm or whatever - cutting the fuel line is felony territory for me). I also don’t understand why there is only one car. Statistically, they would most likely have driven there separately in their own vehicles. If not, it’s highly likely that their family members would be there to pick them up. Not allowing cell phones on their persons also seems like a safety risk in this modern age (can’t call in case of emergency). I didn’t see any chemistry (romantic/sexual) between Abigail and Emma. Abigail, at least, seems fairly concentrated on Nick.

While I agree with what a lot of people are saying about there being too big a cast and not enough for them to do after they fulfill their initial roles, I feel like there's some realism in that. Most people in a real scenario would not even survive such an ordeal, let alone do it well enough to be worthy of note or remembrance. There probably would be only 2 or 3 people out of a group of this size that do anything of large significance in the long run. True to the horror theme present, the average victim is kinda helpless beyond a certain point and not always in an unrealistic way. Faced with a seemingly supernatural unknown, those first few scenes where they actually encounter the werewolves, freezing in shock or scrambling into a certain demise seems like a realistic outcome. Is it the most interesting way it could go? No, surely not. But kudos to the writers if they did this with realism in mind at all. If that's the case, I feel they succeeded.

The teacher was impressed and also questioned my life choices at the time haha

Am I the only one NOT seeing black around the injuries when the characters see it? The only injury I see black is after Dylan's hand or lack there of.

It does matter dialogue wise if you choose to help or leave Max when he's first bit. When him and Laura wake up and start talking, he's really upset that she ran away instead of helping him, even though we know that the choice to help him doesn't really lead to helping him since he's dropped back down the stairs.

Yes yaw! Didn't have to wait for that next walk through the Quarry. Very happy to see you back at it so soon for the next runs. Love your content! :)

I call 'big name actors' only being in for a couple of minutes the power move. Like Drew Berrymore in Scream. I feel like it wasn't an entire accident that he was barely there.

Everytime I see the way chris jumps on max my mind automatically goes to those old Spider monkey memes and vines where someone runs and jumps onto someone and yells spider monkey and raps around them lol
