I think he understands his options--be dragged down with them, accept help, or let go. And deep down, he knows that even if he asks for help, his family is too far gone to accept it. (And I'm not actually sure he _cares_ about Constance's death, though his father's death devastates him. Constance is a cruel, callous, abusive, and shows signs of some sort of narcissistic disorder*.) That "family first" indoctrination is the rope in the well, and it's fraying fast at this point. Travis just wants to be done with it all. *Take note of how Constance talks about Kaylee. Every time she mentions her granddaughter, she prefaces it with "my". It's not "Kaylee", or "little Kaylee". It's "MY Kaylee". Her family are possessions to her. Outsiders are just things, of no account. "Why didn't you just take care of the problem?", she asked Travis, implying that he should have simply murdered two strangers to make things easier for her. She's worse than the werewolves--they change _back_ from being monsters.

My heart breaks for Travis no matter the type of play through. Man just wants to save his family and make sure no one else gets hurt. He’s been carrying so much weight for 6 years. The poor man. And he’s the most fleshed out and complex character of the story. He and Dylan are my favorites. (Dylan’s death was absolutely devastating).

Ikr! These two are just gems of this game. I wasn't really expecting Ted Raimi be so phenomenal as a creepy cop who turns out to be a nice guy trying to protect both kids and his family. So bullshit that everyone in the game treats him so disrespectful. Fun fact tho: Travis is 56 in the game even though he doesn't look older than 30-40. I just looked Ted Raimi up and realized they put his real age in the game. Isn't it awesome in some way? :)

It seems like their mother brainwashed them all with her "the family is the most important thing in the world" motto. I mean, yes it is, but you see, in the game this phrase turns into a "either us or them" kinda thing with no in-between. And that's hella accurate that Travis locked Max and Laura at the police station and didn't tell anyone 'cause he didn't want to "jump to the bottom of a well" as the rest of the family did, accepting the fact that killing people in the name of protecting someone is normal. Otherwise they would've just killed both Max and Laura to keep their curse in secret. Just a fine man found himself in terrible circumstances. 💔

I agree with many of the character's responses acting like you had said something awful (and it's weird), but in the case of Kaitlyn with the guns, I think the "Am I interrupting something?" also fits the vibe of "Oh, are you two flirting right now in this situation?"

@@Azenithf The rhyme says the werewolf must be killed _during the full moon_ to cure the others that werewolf infected, so she would have to hunt Chris that night, or wait a month. Waiting a month means that the Hacketts would be prepared for her coming after Chris, and they'd likely be after _her_ in the meantime. I agree that she's reckless or careless in various ways, but I think this full moon is the best shot she has at curing Max.

48:31 I totally agree. Personally, I think they could've dropped Nick and Jacob, and swapped Abi for Emma. So we'd have Emma, Kaitlyn, Ryan, and Dylan for the 'main' cast, with Laura coming in later. Nick is really only good for the werewolf transformation, because even if he and Abi both live, their little 'fling' doesn't lead anywhere, and then he winds up in a cage like 20 minutes later. Jacob is goofy and has a few laughable moments, but he's almost totally useless aside from breaking the car and starting this whole thing. All he does is run around in his tidy whities and get caught or killed. And Abi doesn't change anything, whether she lives or dies. Everyone else got more depth and character to them, with Emma giving 'final girl' vibes, Kaitlyn being gun savvy (though she keeps losing her damn gun) and levelheaded, Dylan being comic relief but also smart, and Ryan being a voice of reason that just wants everyone to live. They'd have so much more time to expand on their characters without getting bogged down with the pointless romance scenes.

And imagine Caleb waking up to not only find himself in the freezer like he would be if it worked out normally, but with this poor girl he obviously mauled to death. And Silas reminded me a little bit of Josh, you could not get a happy ending for them. Silas was damned by the curse and his awful mother, Josh was very depressive and got the wrong medication. It was not their fault, but can´t be helped.

as someone who has been stabbed, that's kinda it... like I had pretty much the same reaction. I didn't even realize I was stabbed at first, I just saw blood and didn't know where it was coming from. then when I saw it, I was just like "oh... OH... YOU STABBED ME" and it was DEEP. I remember seeing the white of my bone (stabbed in the hand). The pain started coming in after I saw it, like my brain acknowledged it, but it wasn't too bad because adrenaline I guess. but anyways, never fully healed because of how deep it was, completely severed nerves, unrepairable. so yeah, I have trouble using my left hand. sorry for oversharing haha, didn't mean for it to get this long.

I feel like Travis had already gone through so much because of his parents, and he realized the position Laura was in + the feelings of guilt for holding her and Max prisoner. That's why I think he was already ready to accept things as they happened when they were killed. Burnt out from the trauma of being controlled by them, breaking the law because of them, and wanting it all to end so badly. He didn't want to live the rest of his life like that, but didn't feel capable of breaking away from his family on his own. It seems like he didn't have anyone else in his life outside of family, either. I think Kaylee wrote about something like that in her letter, too. That's one of the key ways that abuse happens, the lack of an outside influence to set the compass straight.

One thing you’ll find when doing an Infected Character run is that the usual ways they die are overwritten. If Jacob is bitten he can survive the bear trap, and in most cases characters can avoid death by a werewolves when they share a similar scent. Some deaths are fated though like Abi getting decapitated if she doesn’t shoot Nick, and Chris will always kill Ryan if he doesn’t shoot.

Everything about this stream was *chefs kiss* but the timing of 41:33 makes me laugh way too hard every time. The entire 'Just Chatting' to get us all through chap 7 was so entertaining. Oh please do a 4th playthrough there's so much you still haven't seen! Try to get Emma infected and have her kill Abi, and let Ryan get caught by Bobby in the house, no particular consequences apart from an amazing bonus scene with Bobby after that. You can even get Jacob infected and have him SURVIVE his head in the bear trap!

I think the podcast package is from us, the player. Eliza directly addresses us between chapters and it never pans back to see any other character in the mix (unlike Until Dawn at the psychiatrist desk). We are in this and we have all the characters' evidence put together to get them exonerated or at least make sure their story is told.

I'd say a fun next playthrough is to get everyone infected AND kill the Hacketts in one playthrough. As far as I can tell, it is impossible for Ryan and Laura to survive while infected, so I would say you wouldn't need to worry about if the characters are alive, just infected. As for making Eliza happy, that just requires killing Caleb and failing to find Silas (though she's even happier if all Hacketts die). Easiest way to do this is by having Laura shoot Travis at the sheriff station.

I think it makes sense for the werewolf to kill Max to be Nick, but when he's dead it basically has to be Caleb or Silas and with where both of them are it just doesn't really make sense to me so it would've been cool if killing Nick actually gave Max a chance to like meet up with the others or something

If you swim to shore as Max and get him killed, the status thing at the end of the game (where it shows each character and whether they're dead or alive) says Max was killed by Caleb. But I kind of agree that the stay/swim choice is a bit BS and boring, and it would be cool if it could have been influenced by other choices in the game.

U should definitely see how Travis and Laura kill each other. It's a pretty violent scene. But it feels right at some point. Like who the fuck in the world would be ready to cooperate with a person who breaks into your life, messes things up even more and in the end kills half of your family you've been trying to protect for 6 fucking years and it all happens right in front of your eyes? D: This dude's got some fantastic self-discipline skills. 👀

Yeah, Lance Henriksen and Lin Shaye are such excellent and legendary actors!!! I wish they had more screentime in this too. I got the privilege of working with Lance on a film a few years ago, and he is just the kindest and most down to earth fellow. Quiet, humble, unassuming. Hung around on his smoke breaks and chatted with everyone no matter if you were cast or crew, took walks around set on his breaks between scenes. Not an uppity bone in his body. 💜 I get what you mean about the cast being too large to really focus on everyone like they deserve, but I think the writers and actors still did an excellent job of crafting interesting characters with nuanced personalities! All of them have grown on me to some degree, even the ones I disliked at first. I don’t know that I could choose to cut any of them out! Would have been nice to have perhaps a longer story or one with more choice throughlines to give them all a purpose. Lots of red herrings and dropped loose ends that could have gone somewhere.

Dylan's is always the most brutal and sad. The most brutal was when he dies at the scrap yard drops the blowtorch but can't reach it because his missing hand and he realizes 😢 The second most brutal is when he and Kaitlyn die brutally in the kitchen in my first playthrough near sunrise 🌅 they were so close 😢 I couldn't help but think of Dylan's family and his poor cat😢

I just realised that the 'Death' card changes depending on who you've got killed by the Werewolves... On the save everyone run, there were no heads on the grass, but in this run Emma, Abi and Dylan's severed heads were just chilling on the ground. It also makes a lot more sense for the end of the reading when Eliza says, "or in your case... it just means death." and I swear the more kids that are killed, the longer her lil giggle fit is. - @ 1:25:29

I think the reason Elisa is mad near the end despite killing off the family is because you agreed to help Travis with Silas. So she is expecting you to both let him live and try to harm her boy.

Something I haven’t understood about this game is every time one of them transforms and explodes blood on other people shouldn’t that be the blood that keeps them from getting attacked? Or is that human blood because it’s the human form exploding?

If you don't break into the cabin then Dylan never gets bit because Ryan goes out to try & distract the wendigo werewolf so the girls can break into the cabin. So as the wendigo werewolf goes after Ryan the girls broke into the cabin & Dylan turned the CB radio on so Dylan never gets bit whether Ryan shoots the wendigo werewolf depends on Ryan living or dying.

Abby can also die later in the game if Emma is infected. When they go to open the van, wolf!Emma jumps out and chases Abby into the cellar to kill her. The only way you can avoid it is by having Katlyn shoot wolf!Emma, but it's a very hard shot to make because she's a moving target. I didn't even remember that I had gotten Emma infected until that moment lol.
