The Mindphaser sounds digital because it's doing thru-0 PM, which is the real operation all those digital "FM" synths are doing. The other 3 are doing real FM, which is next to impossible to do digitally. Great video, as always!

thats not what I meant, it just OVERALL has a digital ish tone, even when thru zero PM is not engaged. I like it for that reason. it reminds me of a Nord Lead. Cheers!

IVE BEEN WAITING MY WHOLE LIFE FOR THIS COMPARISON Thank you for putting this together. I’m still pretty new to eurorack and I’ve been trying to decide on just one complex oscillator to add to my rack but I guess the best answer is all of them, in time 😆 I’ll probably get the mind phaser first and then the cs-l. I’m really impressed with the dpo and generator as well.

They're so hard to find in stock. I ended up going for the Furthrrrr which is based on the exact same Buchla circuit but with a couple added routing and folding functions.

What do you mean the "current version" of dpo? Make noise never added or changed anything over the years since it first released, and all of them are still currently being produced with Vactrols as well. There is no difference internally from the units being produced today, as they were in the beginning.

You are doing something wrong OR your dpo is broken? Because on Instruo, Furtherrrr, Mindphaser you produce true and complete wavefolder sweeps from sine to harsh which are beautifully show the capabilities. BUT on dpo you won’t produce such a sweep, only disturbing and chaotic noises. That makes me think the guy is broken, or you don’t do the exact same thing on the dpo, what you did at the other three guys.
