@michaelsorhaindo516710 ай бұрын
@@oldschoolebm666I‘m sure Erica I wouldn‘t mess this up but without looking at the components I wouldn’t know. The sonic range of the mindphaser is so huge, anyone would be lying if they said they could hear a difference between the original and this from three patches via KZbin.

Fantastic as always! Looking forward to hearing more in the full demo. Super happy to see this come back out as Stacy (and Hexinverter) put an absolutely insane amount of work into this design.
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
Yeah Stacy's work on it was insane, I remember all that happening at the time and it shows in the quality of the end result. Erica Synths did a great job remaking this and only tweaking what they needed to in order to produce them. It sounds and feels like the original batch Stacy did.

Last Patch sounds amazing, now if we could have it to play chords.
@DivKid11 ай бұрын
there's always multitrack recording multiple layers. Or you could go duo phonic with two notes on this one, if you were to do that one thing I like to do is two oscillators as two voices (nice and simple) but then having a third layer which is an interactive sound between the two, with some FM, ring modulation or something between them. That way you get a related but new more complex tone to bring in and out against the simpler two voices.
@blindianajones9 ай бұрын
For that second patch, that underlying layer you talked about the 6:45 mark, I hear that technique a lot in songs by NIN, etc. Does that have a production name or term? Ive heard you say pedal tones but not sure if that underlying swooshy verb layer is the same concept. Oh, and do you normally tune that toa root note or anything like that? Thanks
@DivKid9 ай бұрын
I don't think it has a name specifically, it's creating an ambient background layer from part of one of the more forward layers in the mix (in this case the main synth riff). It's something I've done a lot with so I have layers to work with in mixes. If I was say making an acidic bassline where a saw wave went into a low pass filter and that was the main riff. I might take the square wave from the same VCO, high pass it or EQ to remove loads of bass and lower mids and then use the higher harmonics that are left to wash out the background with a delay and/or reverb. Good reference to NiN I've definitely heard it there. You can also do it with just running the root note (ie no sequencing of pitch involved) on a background layer, a bit like disco strings, where they'd just sustain one higher note over moving bass and chords.

Dumb question, should I worry about blank panels? Divkid seems not to but modwiggler seems split? Edit: in regard to causing a possible short.
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
worry about them as is worry about something falling into the case? On a vertical case it's unlikely something will fall backwards into my stacked up cases. I'm not that precious about some space, however I do love a good blank panel too (see the DivKid one!). So if I've a gap to fill, I'll grab a blank more often than not. The issue of a short would be a screw or something else that will pass current going onto a power board of bus board and shorting the pins. It's not an impossibility. You can just cut some cardboard out if you don't want to spend anything on covering the gaps in your cases.

yeah a patch cable could hit a pin on the power too. Again not impossible and as snorrevonflake mentions on a skiff or briefcase style system lying down it's easier for it to happen.

Hey div kid I’ve got a question , doesn’t realy fits the Thema , but what please is the difference between eastcoast andvwestcoast style in techno? …. 🤨
@DivKid13 күн бұрын
it's often said the difference is in how the idea of tone and modulating it changes. East coast rich waveforms (saw/square) and filters to carve out harmonics. Then West Coast is simple waveforms (sine/triangle) and folders/FM/AM to create further harmonics. But both approaches are often available on each type of system. But there's also the musical approach to consider, Moog (East Coast) with a traditional keyboard and say Buchla with touch interfaces, non standard keyboards etc. Attaching that to techno I don't think changes anything. You can play around with all and everything, especially in a Eurorack system for techno or other styles.
