Project request: Ventilation Fan: Solder up 2-4 spare laptop fans to a USB connector. Install fans onto a cigar box that contains a cut to size carbon filter. Add vent holes in side opposite side. Better than USB power, show us how to wire the fans to your solder iron control. Make the fans automatically come on and off in sync with your iron. Use your hot glue to attach this on the far side of your desk!!! Or rig it up to your camera holder.

When you heat metal with a torch, it oxidates and makes it impossible to take solder and bond to the contacts on the PCB.

I bought some Stainless Steel Flux Soldering Paste HWY-800 off ebay $3. It actually worked to secure a wire on shiny metal bracket that regular flux would not. Seems strong hold but didn't try picking up 5 pounds with it. The label of this HWY is in another language, composition unknown but it came thru customs and mail. It looks like water so guessing that it's just boric acid (borax & water mixed) which is common silver flux. Sorin, having worked in assorted fumes, nothing major but regular I can tell you that all those damn "colds & flu" were warnings that I ignored. The lung irritants screw up protective lining of sinus and lungs, letting germs in. It heals but the scar tissue patches that look like brittle rosin flakes make lungs so they don't stretch when you get old. You'd be better off smoking regular cigs if you are going to huff rosin fumes. The sticky tar in the nose keeps the fumes & germs out of the lungs. Worse than emphysema, e-cig oil causes cotton lung very rapidly even in young people.
