I apologize for the rudimentary question - but what courses are prerequisites to understanding this talk? Thank you!

No need to apologize. This was a great question Lucas! Part of going to math talks (in my opinion) is not being able to understand everything that comes up; for me it sparks a bit of drive to go off and read more about a given subject the talk is on. So my answer to your question may not be exactly what you are asking for. I spend the first half of the talk going through basics of symbolic dynamics; a bit of understanding of limits and linear algebra (specifically what an eigenvalue is) is the minimum amount of knowledge required. I mention things that come up in several different fields of math though as well. (namely, topology, computability and complexity theory, and combinatorics) so although that stuff might go over your head, it’s definitely still possible to ‘understand’ what the talk is about without ‘understanding’ everything I say if that makes sense.

@@CHALKND I'm taking discrete math, calc 3, and mathematical statistics right now, and planning on taking abstract linear algebra next semester. It definitely is hard to understand but I'm so happy that I understand few terms here and there since I have taken a data structures class and learned about the basics of graph theory. Hopefully, by the time I graduate, I will be able to understand the talk. ! remindme in 2 years lol.

Hi, Nathan. It feels surreal to see some of my undergraduate research discussed by a KZbinr. Sure, the areas aren't exactly the same, but it brings me back memories. Cheers!

The audio wasn't messy in the beginig, it sounded good.

This presentation style is neat. Just put a piece of chalk in your hand while you present for authenticity.

we dont want to see you face all the time but mathematics. Now verbose introductions. Dont be vague. cf your video "generalized neighborhood base construction": you need to explain what makes the construction work - not only reading off how it is defined.
