The best function of this unit is easy edit. You can virtually get any sound you need in just few turns of the knobs. Surprisingly no one seem to mention or demo this on KZbin.

That's a good point. I've not played around with it too much but have seen for example some boss blog articles that tell you easy mode settings to use for different characteristic sounds!

Could you explain it? How does its work?
@MattDvc
@MattDvc Жыл бұрын
@@TheFasterxxx you select general style (clean, rock, metal etc) with one knob, effect (vibrato, flanger, chorus etc) with second knob, and echo/reverb with the third one. Based on your selection gt1 chooses most suitable amp simulation, effects, settings etc, so you don't have to spend long time playing with settings for each individual effect. Most of the time you'll get the sound you need or at least be very close to it.

Thanks for pointing out the "wildly varying output levels" between patches. Line 6 does the same thing. You are paying for those presets, they aren't a gift. It all goes into the finished price. It's inexcusably shoddy production quality and an unfinished product. Factory presets are generally crap anyway, but they should at LEAST be normalized to a standard range, so that there is never more than 5 dB (or even less) between them.

Good review, only mention I wanted to make was the pedal works really great in the four cable method and I also really enjoy plugging it directly into the FX return of my amp. When I run it directly into the effects return it gives you the ability to have wildly different amp sounds using the preamps on board the unit.

Good video. I started with the GT1, have a few other things, now a GX100, but just bought a used GT1 because it sounds great, does a lot, but most importantly fits in the pocket of my gig bag. This will be my take to practice board and the GX for gigs. You probably should have mentioned Tone Studio since with the GT and now the GX or the Katana, I never touched the dials and did all the presets on the computer, save and go.

Thank you for this video! I'd like to add my thoughts here. Tone shaping is the journey of a life time. What I mean by that is it takes a lot of skill and effort to learn, understand and execute DSP in the way it sounds on each system - Tube Amp, Modeling Amp or MultiFX modelers like these. These are not cons really, that is how a system works even if it was done via pedals - it would be the same thing - time needs to be invested to get the right tone. For playing immediately, there are factory presets and Boss Tone Exchange to download and get started immediately.

I own this again (made a comment a year ago) and I've finally figured it out and gotten used to it. The problem for is that when changing guitars, I need to adjust the amp settings a little bit. The EQ, the gain. It's not easy to access at all. I know how now but it's far too many steps. There should be a button right there along with the "comp, OD, preamp" etc which allows you to quickly have the basic tone settings on the screen and adjustable by those three knobs. I love the sound of this thing and the power it has, but its accessibility is its Achilleas heel. It doesn't have to be this way. When they inevitably release the (GX-1?) AIRD version of this soon, I hope they address that. In the meantime, I've upgraded my ME-80 to the ME-90 and am very happy with it. The GT-1 is a novelty for when I have a lunch break in the office.

Boss got the balance spot on with this device, they are my favoured unit for sculpting guitar tones to die for, they can be used straight out of the box for beginners to noodle about with and are more than capable of producing tones that scare the shite outa brand amp purists, they can be used in chimp-mode or if the user is brave and knows how to sculpt and output via them they are virtual tone sorcery and ought to be kept under very strict lock and key security...I'm never selling or availing my parameter tweaks no matter the offer.

Nice review Nish, I'm using a Boss ME25 and I love the sounds it makes, but it’s built like a flippin TANK. At 30cm across it’s the same size as the GT1 but 'robust' is an understatement, the case is made of solid steel. What I'd like would be Boss quality sounds in a much lighter package. I know the GT1 is built out of plastic, but you didn't say how heavy is it?
@nish_ttp

It is quite light, maybe 1kg max. Not sure how much stomping the footswitches could take to be honest but it seemed pretty robust. Also a fan of the me series, had an me50 for a little while!

Tbh it's not fun to use and takes time setting up that I'd prefer to use playing. Can the ME80 also be used with powered speakers in the same way, eg via quarter inch cables. I went straight to video tutorials here. Have some patience. Ask yourself what is your first goal with this pedal. First thing I did was just scroll through the presets and played around with them. That's done by merely stepping on the left and middle buttons. Middle to scroll up, left down. Push both of those at once to get tuner, press both again to get out of tuner. If you haven't already done so load the software for editing, loading presets from Boss website and creating your own presets. Sounds like you just want to get started.
