So are all these famous tones he’s using presets? Or did he manually tweak and create each one? Or are they presets you can download after buying the unit? I’m looking for something where I can have the different sounds preset like this for covers, as I’m not that great at creating my own tones or matching them. For example, if I wanted to play an AC/DC song, GNR, Beatles, and then RHCP whether at home or jam session would I be able to download these types of tones? The presets in the cheaper little units usually aren’t that great so that’s why I’m looking at this one. Awesome demo probably the best I’ve seen!

It'd work just fine, but the Blackstar ID: Core 20 has its own digital FX built into the amp, so for the best results try not to overdo it by stacking effects or amp models on top of eachother. That is, we'd recommend you choose as clean/neutral sound on the amp as possible and have most of the effects and models come from the GT-1.

What an excellent demo! Shows the results you can achieve when you spend a little time to tailor make your own presets. I have the GT-1 and it is amazingly good! I replaced my Boss ME-80 with it and I believe it's the best sounding Boss Multi-FX yet (I've had a few) and so configurable with six assigns available. I've added a separate double non-latching footswitch as CTRL 2 and 3 and with that, live control (for me) is almost as good as the ME-80. Love it!

Rick Harrison is it possible to download patches from gt100 to it?
@rickharrison47228 жыл бұрын
Hi Eli, using Tone Studio you can download GT-100 patches from the library and most seem to work OK (mixed results). The GT-1 will just ignore data it can't use such as the GT-100's second pre-amp etc so you might need to fine-tune the GT-100 patches to your liking. In the library, most patches have the GT-1 Easy Edit equivalent listed which is just three numbers to dial up using the control knobs. Some of the Easy Edits get surprisingly close too! Rick.
@elij.doummar46238 жыл бұрын
Rick Harrison thanks for information.so when you are saying it's working ok, it means same quality :) just limited options?
@rickharrison47228 жыл бұрын
Yes Joseph, that's right... certainly the quality of the GT-1's output is as good as anything out there at any price! (IMO). But when loading GT-100 patches, due to the difference in some design features, you may have to tweak them a little to get them to sound the way you want.

In this demo Josh Munday doesn't use the amp. Everything goes thru the speakers. I would like to buy BOSS GT-1 but I have a doubts, I am not sure which one of small bedroom practice amplifier to choose to get the best of the amp and the multi effect. The goal is to get sound like he does. Any advice? It is important to say it would be only for practice and mostly at low volume. Thanks in advance.
@longandmcquade7 жыл бұрын
In this video the feed is going straight from the GT-1, into a mixer, and then into the camera. It's all direct. So even though for the sake of the presentation the guitar was played through the PA for the audience to hear, that's not influencing the sound in the video at all. If the goal is to get sound like he does, and for practice at low volume, we'd recommend a small low-wattage solid state amplifier so you get as clean a sound as possible coming from the amp, and all the effects and amp simulation is coming from the pedal without the real amp colouring the sound.
@Sun9C7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for quick respond. :) There are many solid state amplifiers out there and unfortunately I'm not able to test all of them. Can you specify two or three solid state models to which I should pay attention and make my choice easier? I would appreciate that. Also, I was wondering what do you think how BOSS GT-1 would work together with small tube amp, for example, Blackstar HT-1 or Laney Cub 10. Thanks again.
@longandmcquade7 жыл бұрын
It depends on where you live and what is available in your area. For example, we do not carry Blackstar or Laney amps in our stores. For a small, low wattage solid state amp for at-home practice, you could try a Fender Frontman 10G, a Vox Pathfinder 10, or the Orange Crush series of amps. Each of these options start at under $100 CAD. A small tube amp would also work just fine, but might add a bit of colour to the tone. That is, you're not hearing exactly what the pedal is putting out - the tube is influencing the tone a little bit. But many would say that it influences the tone in a good way.

@@longandmcquade yea, I heard that in the second listen. My bad. But I do wonder, would it be better to use a tube amps distortion and use he GT1 for other effects or use the GT2 for both? Anyway Thank You!!!
@longandmcquade2 жыл бұрын
@@LEON4PRES Depends on the amp you have! If you already have a tube amp, then there's no harm in trying the GT-1 with it and removing amp modelling and using it just for multi-fx. If you are thinking of going out and buying a tube amp, then the GT-1 would not be the pedal we'd typically recommend to go along with it.
@rodolphep0nthus555 Жыл бұрын
@@longandmcquadeNow this is excellent advice!! These modeling devices, whatever the category (from the GT1 to Kemper stuff) are definitely not engineered to be played with a good tube amp, but to be plugged in a mixing desk, souncard, or FR speaker or monitors. Using these with a Tone King is a waste of money. In a phrase, use digital devices with digital PA systems.

So it sounds sick but is it practical? Like, say I have to change patch mid song, can I have a bank of several patches or do I have to scroll through 99 of them?
@longandmcquade7 жыл бұрын
There are no banks and no manual mode in the GT-1, so to switch patches you'd have to scroll through them. The ideal way to set it up would be in the order of your setlist, the same way Josh did in this demo. Every tone change would be set up in the next patch, so all you'd have to do is step on the up button every time you want to switch your tone. With proper planning before your gig, there's no second-guessing or tap dancing on the board to get your tones. Another way would be to "fake" banks. You might have the first patch as Song 1 Clean, the second patch as Song 1 Drive, and then switch up and down back and forth between those for the song's verses and choruses. Each patch also has a modifier that can be turned on and off with the CTL1 button, and each patch can have a unique setting for the expression pedal. So you can essentially have 4 different sounds per patch - just the bare patch, the patch with CTL1 activated, the patch with the expression effect brought in, and the patch with both CTL1 and expression effects. So if each song in your setlist has 2 patches dedicated to it, then you can have up to 8 tones per song, and every tone for that song is only 1 or 2 taps away.

Yes the GT-1 is much more recent and gives you much better/updated sounds over the GT-8, but you might find its form factor a bit limiting if you're used to the GT-8 size and interface. The GT-100 would be closer to the generational successor of your GT-8.

Can I connect boss RC-30 to this one?
@longandmcquade4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Connect the RC-30 after the GT-1 for the looper to record the tones and effects coming out of the GT-1. Or, connect the RC-30 before the GT-1 to record your loops clean and then alter the effects applied to the loop in real time on the GT-1.

If I have a Gt 10, would getting this be an upgrade?
@longandmcquade3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The GT-10 was a great unit in its time, but it was originally released about 13 years ago. The GT-1 is about 10 years newer than the GT-10, and there have been a lot of advancements in digital modeling technology in the past 10 years. The form factor and tweakability might have been reduced from the GT-10 to the GT-1, but the latest-generation sound engine and presets would make the GT-1 sound much better than the GT-10.
