However it's also important to remember that devices like this are what allows the people in more draconian areas to have access to what they need in the best possible way they know how without having to fight the very expensive, long, and difficult battle of getting the laws changed within a government that is overwhelmingly corrupt at every level. You and I both know what the alternative is, but you and I both know no one is willing to do it. Because the truth is people have one life to live. And they don't want to spend it fighting a battle bigger than themselves that they're not capable of winning alone. But they do want the capability to defend themselves however they can while mitiaging as much risk as possible. So this isn't so much "compliance" as it is a loophole. And people should exploit as many loopholes as possible in order to enjoy the maximum amount personal prosperity and security they're entitled to while staying out of the crosshairs of a corrupt government. In order to get all of our rights fully restored, the gun community actually needs to have far more unity than it has. Because heres the unfortunate truth: the gun community isn't even a "community" at all... It's a loose confederation of tribes. And some tribes fight for our rights on the scale that's needed. Some of them even win which is awesome, and it proves what we should all be doing. But in order to actually win effectively and peacefully while keeping our quality of life fully intact, we need to ALL band together and join the legal battle in a way that makes us all have each other's backs. We'd be unstoppable if every single gun owner in America joined together and focused on that.

Had a back and forth with this guy for getting a NY compliant AKM, and not only was the guy great to work with, giving me updates when requested and in a good amount of time no less, but the AKM was sourced with WBP components and solidly put together, have a couple thousand rounds through it and it has not once jammed or had any kind of failure. The compmag also is something that I think really helps out and saves space; only fear now is its popularity getting it banned!

This is really a very good idea, and I'd buy one for sure. I hope David makes a boat load of cash, so he'll be able to move on to other equally brilliant products when the magazine ban is finally overturned. When that will be I have no idea. What I do know is there is a population of people out there who hate that we have guns, and that they will do anything to get their way. I hope you'll keep that design in mind for future products, because it's really neat to load your mags like that. I'd love it if my drums and 30's had that feature! Window/clear mags are great, but that loading...that's smart. No more Lula's or ETS magloaders. If y'all ever move to Texas, you might find a market for a 20+ round side-loader like what you've got there, is what I'm suggesting.

Watching intently from Illinois, where we've just been hit with new anti "assault weapon" legislation which includes restrictions on removable magazine capacity. I expect to see our new laws challenged and defeated in court, but who knows... I was picturing myself possibly having to buy a whole bunch of 10-round mags for range days, but I will consider this product. (I guess my biggest reservation is that there may suddenly come a time when continued compliance with the law translates to an unacceptable tactical risk in an extreme self-defense scenario, and I don't want to experience any delay whatsoever if I need to unfix this magazine. You did make the removal of a non-epoxied magazine look quick and easy, though.)

I have comp mag Gen 1 or 2. Not sure but I think it’s way better than this one. I put the mag in and tighten a little flat head screw to lock it. To take it out I just loosen same screw and eject mag. There is no little tab to lose and no extra weird tool to have to carry.

This sounds great at first but the law states that an Assault weapon is three things (before you get to the part about the 'naughty' features of course): 1. A rifle that fires a centerfire cartridge. 2. Is semiautomatic 3. Accepts a detachable magazine If all three of these criteria are met we go to four 4. Now we start counting naughty features like flash hiders and pistol grips etc. (even one of these makes you an evil rifle in most ban states) With this magazine inserted, your rifle is still capable of accepting a detachable magazine if the magazine catch is functional. All I would have to do is remove this mag and then insert a standard magazine. So any rifle that works that way is STILL an assault weapon (yes even without any magazine actually being inserted). A locked magazine rifle must have both a magazine not capable of receiving more than 10 rounds AND not be capable of accepting a detachable magazine (unless this magazine can only be removed with the use of a tool which would constitute "disassembly" not "detachability". A good example of a product that meets these requirements is the "FNGR" latch. This device replaces the Mil-spec mag catch with a locking catch (locks using a small threaded screw and locking plate inside the magwell). In this case the RIFLE is changed so that it cannot accept a detachable mag and a tool is required to remove a standard low cap mag or a permanently blocked 10/30. In California, for example, there was a short period of time when standard cap mags were legal to purchase around April a few short years ago (known as 'freedom week'). Even if you legally posses one, or more, of these magazines the minute you insert one into a locked mag rifle you have mfg'd an assault weapon. Not so if you insert the same exact mag into a "featureless" rifle.
