What a marvelous interview, with such intelligent questions and perceptive and moving responses. (I loved Swafford's mention of Brahms's letter to Hanslick, damning the latter's treatise on beauty in music with faint praise!)

Is so beautiful the way Swafford talks about Ives and how big this composer had in his journey in life. I could never imagined that. I'm gonna try to find the biography about Charles Ives and the letters he exchange with his wife. Another thing, in the end of the interview when he talks about the farewell Brahms gave to Schumann in his third Symphony is so beautiful, moving with make me wished to live around who had such love for music. Thanks Mr.Swafford, you're one of kind. And my many thanks To Zsolt & Team, who makes my passion for music stay alive as I'm a graduate student of music myself, the life as a musician is pretty hard, but times like this make me hopeful of better days. My best wishes !

Can anyone enlighten me which one the "farewell" symphony is? Was it known under that name back then? I doubt this 'subtitle' is commonly used among musicians presently.

@@Living-the-Creative-Life i have been following your channel for a while love all the talks and focus around mental health and hard hitting questions! Being a cellist who started at 18 and some how learned to play it came with some battle scars like self doubt, imposter syndrome etc your interviews really help to gain perspective .Once again a heartfelt thank you to you and the team for putting it up.
