The humility of this man is off the charts, like his talent. The interviewer's eyes lit up when she heard such modest words. And no maater how all the music is that he wrote, Schindler's List is his crowning achievement, and next to him stands Steven Spielberg, same movie same greatest achievement. Now older, the music of Schindler's List has me in tears every time. Such a masterpiece.

One of the greatest things ever was when I went to the Star Wars 40th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration 2017. It was always one of my dreams to see John Williams conduct live. I honestly thought I’d never see it happen. I’ve never been close to the places he performs and with his age I saw it as a far off dream. But that surprise when he came out and conducted for us was one of the most amazing surprises of my life. I’ll never forget it.

Watching Sunday Night Football right now on NBC. Every time I watch the show, I notice and enjoy the John Williams themes throughout the game. It is but one small example of this man's genius. Who else living today has the creative powers to define and capture the essence of things with music, that words and pictures alone could never match in descriptive power? Great music has the power to capture our emotions like nothing else. Hence the goosebumps.

Mr Williams music was the backbone and sinew that changed movies forever!!! Starwars and Indiana Jones never would have been the blockbusters without his intuition in those movies. I remember buying the soundtrack to Starwars and I had never done that before!!! We're talking 1977 (disco era) times. Thank you sir for making our lives better one movie at a time!! I still listen to that starwars album to this day its almost like classical music!!! Darth Vaders intro always gives me chills... da..da.da...da.ta da.da.ta.daaaaa!!!!:).

‘One of the best’, ‘Epic’, ‘World class’, ‘Historic’ aren’t enough to describe John Williams. He is simply just legendary. The Albert Einstein of movie music.

Marvelous story. Marvelous man. Many of his movie scores have made the films way better than they would have been otherwise. If you watch a lot of movies, as I do, you can almost know immediately certain composers that you're listening to before being told. James Horner, Hans Zimmer and the incomparable John Williams have a sound all their own.

Wow, I am surprised, but VERY happy you guys interviewed John Williams! Far too many times, it seems classical musicians and composers often get swept under the rug. Thank you so much for this!

I'm the farthest from being musically talented, but my dream job would be to compose music for films. One of the greatest gifts we have in the world is an orchestra. In my opinion, there is almost nothing better than putting headphones on and listening to a beautiful epic musical score.

99.99999% of it is practice and polish. Even if it's just for fun, we have software now that means any Joe Shmoe can write a symphony without formal theory, so give it a go if you've got free time. If you've been listening attentively to music you're already a good few steps ahead, and it'll give you a deeper appreciation of the craft in the stuff you enjoy.

Ever listen to such film music composers as Elmer Bernstein or Jerry Goldsmith?

@@jandreidrn No. But I like Steve Jablonsky and Brian Tyler. BUT I wrote to Sergio De la puente(Extraodinary Tales composer.HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and he actually wrote back. Epic for me. I'll have to check out the two you mentioned. Thanks

Røbbin Mølk speaking of Brian Tyler, his most recent score was for Stallone's Rambo: Last Blood. But the composer of the first three films was none other than Jerry Goldsmith. Here he is conducting the theme from Rambo: (kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqicpGhrdseso7s

One of the absolute finest composers of the modern day is humble enough to take a back seat even when he shouldn't and talks like a regular human being. There are many people without even a fraction of this man's stature who demand to be worshiped. Williams never let all of his success go to his head. Over and above his amazing music, his attitude is what I find the most inspiring.

John Williams, classic movie and song composer of all time. He's a blessing to many of the films we always watch: JAWS, E.T. Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, Harry Potter, Schindler's List, and the rest continues.

Of all the great people in the world who I have not met, John Williams is the one I most want to meet. His music defined my childhood. When the music for Star Wars began on that May evening in 1977, my 10 year old jaw fell open and remained opened for the rest of the movie. Then Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes Back, E.T., Temple of Doom, Return of the Jedi, Last Crusade and so on. All of them elevated their respective movies to a level they would not have achieved otherwise. As Steven Spielberg put it, there is no greater time during the making of a movie than when you get to hear the movie with music for the first time, live in the orchestra room. Man, what I wouldn't give to have been there for Star Wars. Steven said that when they were recording the music for Raiders (I think that's which one it was. Might have been E.T.) he ruined the take accidentally by blurting out "Bravo!" before it had completed. On E.T. Steven actually made one of the scenes longer so that John's music could be expanded (when Elliot is flying his bike for the first time, I think).
