Bryan, if you want to hear Cammie in a different context, I recommend her on Ayreon's new album TRANSITUS.

Wow, never heard this band before - and now wonder how could I miss it? This is really captivating.

Oceans of slumber is very good indeed, and Cammie is a force of nature herself. About Heavier Doom metal bands, I will give you 3 suggestions: ESOTERIC - The Secret of The Secret This band is considered by many as the heaviest Doom metal you will ever heard. This song show why they have 3 guitarists and how one band can be heavy as hell and trippy at the same time. My dying bride - the prize of beauty. This songs is from their early 2000s Era, it has everything that MDB can show you. Draconian - Daylight Misery / Stellar Tombs This band have 2 singers (clean female and harsh/clean male), but it's more heavy/gloomy oriented. And could you try some early Tristania? Their second album "beyond the veil" is easily the pinnacle of the "gothic metal" and one of the best metal albums from the late 90s. Aphellion is the track I would recomend to you.

Hello fellow Esoteric fan! I would also recommend something from their later albums, like ‘abondonment’, ‘Circle’ or ‘Culmination’. Also great artist choices, hope Bryan checks them out.

@@danieldborthanks, mate! Esoteric was an obsession of mine in the early 2000s, but I've haven't head anything from then since "The Maniacal Valley", which is awesome too. I will surely give the new albums a try.

If you dive more into doom metal I heavily suggest Khemmis - Beyond The Door for a good tune. But if you're looking for oppressive heaviness check out Primitive Man - Scorn.

The son of Mike Portnoy has a new band,that brought out an album a few days ago. It is called TALLAH. The song Overconfidence is a real hit. If you like slipknot,Korn or mudvayne this is perfect for you.
@robote76794 жыл бұрын
Nice and nice reaction as always.I've got a song for you that may very well be heavier-though you're right this is very heavy. Abiogenesis, Visualize. This song came out 4 or 5 years ago and it's the only thing the band has released. This is kind of like a technically complex volcanic eruption. I've recently learned their drummer moved and they've auditioned more than 30 drummers. Apparently they plan to start recording again once they replace that missing part. That will be a great day as those of us who have been waiting for years will finally have new tunes to hear. Until then Abiogenesis, Visualize, the personification of heavy. If you haven't heard it you won't believe your ears!

For Doom Metal bands: - Swallow the Sun (mandatory!!)- they have so many amazing songs i don´t even know which one to suggest. Well, i will suggest my favorite from their last album "The Crimson Crown" or in case they are new to you "When a shadow is forced into the light", the first song from that album. Or if you prefer an classic old, my oldschool favorite "Swallow (Horror PartI)". - My Dying Bride ( Mandatory !!! ) Along with Paradise Lost and Anathema, the founders of Doom Metal. One of my favority doom bands. I would suggest from them "Fall with me" or "To Remain Tombless" or "The blood, the wine, the roses" or "My Hope, the destroyer" or "The Raven and the Rose". This is another band with so many kickass songs to suggest. - Red Moon Architect, a fairly unknown band very awesome, those hidden gems, they have a new album coming up and i would suggest one of the new songs "Chained" or one of the oldies, the amazing "Return of the Black Butterflies". - Draconian - Also with a new album coming out this end o October ( around these days). I would suggest "The Sacrificial Flame" from the new album or "Heavy lies the Crown" from their amazing previous album. - AHAB - You have to react to "The Isle". (mandatory!!!) The contrast of the beautiful beggining with the rest is unbelivable. More doom bands: Doom:VS, Shape of Despair

This band reminds me a little of one called Flowing Tears, especially on the album "Serpentine". Except that Oceans of Slumber has more elements of doom metal.
@ZioFeda4 жыл бұрын
I've been listening to doom for the better part of the last 15 years, and in recent times I kinda moved on a bit (which is maybe why I tend to appreciate the more elegant, clean element in Oceans of Slumber, because that's kind of what I'm moving towards). At any rate, I feel like you've been given a ton of good advice about Doom bands, even though I'm fairly sure you won't like all of them (a lot of Doom is all about that absence of movement you were talking about in the video, but it lacks that contrast you like so much, it's just hopelessness all around). However, there's a couple bands I think you might appreciate and haven't been mentioned; the first one is Saturnus, a very poetic and romantic band in their own way. There's a lot of contrast going on there, a bit of a gothic side, but also a lot of harsh growling and pure doom\death metal. You might really like songs such as "Noir", to mention just one. The other band is Amenra. To me, and to a bunch of other people, it's more of a spiritual experience than just some band I listen to every once in a while. It's something that has literally changed my way of seeing myself. I'd start with "Razoreater".

I find some comfort in that. This was a powerful track but I certainly missed the complex drumming and those growls.

Thumbnail: "Don't think I've heard anything heavier" The Adorned Fathomless Creation would like a word. Lmao, but foreal foreal, that one is more like a full-on death metal song mixed with an Oceans song. It's insane, I love it. But, for you, I'd probably recommend Pray For Fire or The Soundtrack To My Last Day over that one. You might like those better. And if you wanna be just strangled by gloom & depression lol, I'd check out something by Evoken or Solemn They Await (I don't know many Doom bands & these ones are basically Doom/Death). I know Sunn O))) also a popular extreme Doom Metal band. I haven't heard much, but from what little I have, they're so slow and distorted it's almost noise metal at that point lol.

If you really want to check out Heavy doom metal you absolutely need to check out the following - 1. Ablaze by Yob - Mike Scheidt writes amazing heavy yet beautiful stuff. 2. Solitude by Candlemass - Oceans of Slumber also did a cover of this that you could check out. 3. I Wait or Judgement In Air II by Bell Witch - I would have recommended Mirror Reaper but that song is 83 minutes long. You should still listen to it - even if you don't do it for a video. 4. Watcher in the Dark or Cruel Road by Pallbearer - Purely clean vocals but so, so heavy 5. Burn in Hell or The Hour of Death by Reverend Bizarre - More towards the traditional side of doom 6. Firelights by Swallow the Sun - Death/Doom, good mix of growled and clean vocals 7. Kiss My Ashes (Goodbye) by Woods of Ypres - They started off as a black metal group but their last album is very Doomy with clean vocals mixed in 8. In the Depths of R'lyeh by Catacombs - Funeral Doom inspired by Lovecraft 9. Red Foam (The Great Storm) by Ahab - More Funeral Doom inspired by literature
