I'm more impressed with these guys with every track I hear. Might actually have to do a discog run soon. I also love how every track we've heard has been so distinct. This one was really all about the harmonic shifts and the tones they created. Love how they kept slipping into subtle dissonances and tensions but using it mostly for the atmospheric effect rather than just for the tension itself. It's funny, I was going to say that there's a constant feeling of "longing" just as I heard you say it in your analysis! Seems we're definitely on the same page there.

Some of those works are sure conected with the enviroment, the ancient cultures, the feelings and sense of the live. Fascination shared, bro. Another amazing song of Los Jaivas is El Gavilán (The Sparrowhawk), a cover of a song created by Violeta Parra in 1959. Something like acid rock (before acid rock) + cueca (the national dance of Chile) + dark thoughts in an altered state of mind. The original song is disturbing but amazing and Los Jaivas were very respectful but they added their own style.

Thank you so much for your reactions. Your analysis really brings out a lot of the nice details of the songs you've reacted. One thing that stuck out to me is when you mentioned in 14:17 the notion of elevating something common like a tree to the wonders in the world. I think that sentiment really resonates with the intent of the band in most of their material. Very beautifully said, Bryan! Coincidentally, I think its that same sentiment that brings many people from Chile to comment in your Los Jaivas videos, because for us this is music that is (criminally) underrated and underappreciated by a large portion of the northern hemisphere. I think it would surprise many that the band Robert Plant called one of the best in the world comes from Chile, of all places. So in the same way that this song serves as an ode to those unsung lands, your reaction stands as a testimony of the power of these musicians. Thank you!

I use the ever popular (or infamous for some audiophiles 😅) Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Wired. They are really neutral, sound great, and are quite fashionable (seriously, how many other high quality headphones come in purple). They aren't perfect, for instance their soundstage is a little weak compared to some headphones in a similar price range, but I enjoy using them for everything. And I do suggest getting the Wired rather than the Wireless. I tested both and while I loved the versatility of Bluetooth, the wireless ones have ton of bass to them. I'm really not sure what drove that decision but it helped save me $50 😂
