Quick correction - 1:29 - a plagal cadence is moving from IV to I (and not I to IV). Apologies for any confusion! Thank you to @mekoskim for spotting it!

Great video! Just a small correction: the progression from I to IV is not a plagal cadence. A plagal cadence specifically involves the IV to I progression. Keep up the good work!

Good track. I would have used woodwinds to double the melody French horns to support the harmonies and maybe some light percussion.

Very well produced video and a good starting point. It is just too sparsely orchestrated for me personally. I love it huge. Like Bergersen's Love Suite. So, I need waaay more string counterpoint, trombones in the harmony, some high brass accents, woodwind staccato rhythms and a large choir 😉
@composingacademy82702 ай бұрын
Oh I love Thomas Bergersen's Love Suite. If I can compose something that's half as good as that one day, I'll be very happy!

Simon: What elements distinguish or define romantic music relative to other types of music?
@composingacademy82702 ай бұрын
All these elements could be of course found in other genres/types of music, but I feel a combining 1) diatonic chords 2) use of some chord extensions such as 9ths)Instrumentation of Piano/Strings/Woodwinds could go a long way in making something sound 'romantic'

Hi! I have a question about a percussion pattern but Im commenting on this vid because its youre most recent. Im trying to recreate the percussion pattern from Jhene Aiko’s “Higher” (kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3jWamuJntBopK8si=IZKnLeeBk4WdAF_e ) could you do a vid recreating this or recreate it as sheet music please? Its such a beautiful piece of music to me and I’d love to recreate it myself it’s just a bit challenging!
