I sell a lot of PSE bows as well and out of the box, straight from the factory, I have seen loose cable rods, loose string stops, loose screws, cable rods at 2.30pm causing extreme torque and cam lean, spacers at the wrong place, bent cams, breaking strings... First lesson I learned is "never pull back a PSE bow straight out of the box, without checking it bevore". Second lesson is "it's not allways the customers fault". Third lesson is "there' s no quality assurance at PSE and a listless person could have assembled the bow you just bought". And Steven, this bows string could have been broken at full draw as well! I experienced this once.

My wife derailed her bow the other week. It didn’t do any damage as it’s really light poundage...I think it was because she didn’t have the arrow nocked on properly and basic dry fired it as the arrow only went about 2 feet. If your guy did the same thing he would probably think it’s the bows issue. Your great and love your videos thanks for your work and your great for the community!

Good vid Stev, i worked out the problem with the Prime, i first reversed the limbs and still had top cam lean, then i reversed the limb pockets and for about 5 minutes i thought it was fixed only to notice that the cam lean was now at the bottom cam, in the end i sent it back.

To be completely fair I derailed my first compound bow 12 years ago. I was new and didn't know anything about compound bows, pulled it back with fingers and boom. Didn't look like it damaged anything and the shop was really cool about it, decided it was easier to just swap me out with a different bow and explained what I did wrong.

Cam lean is not set on a bow at rest. Cam lean at rest is normal. Because the bus and control cable pull to the side, there's always going to be an imbalance. There are a couple things to look at. First, look at the lean at full draw. If it's really imbalanced, the bow will torque to the side the top of the cam is leaning because you have off axis tension. I start with lining this up. I set my cable guard in as much as possible. Then I shoot bare shafts. Yes, with a compound. That will cause a little imbalance if you have to yoke tune to move your bare shafts, but it shouldn't be too bad. I just did this process recently and my groups at 80yds went from 18" to 7-8".

Hi Steve, I bought a stinger a few months ago and managed to pull the string off the wheels, I did it by pulling the string back with the bow pointing down and to my left, I was looking at how the pulleys worked and I think it was my hip that moved the string off the wheels, was put right for 15$ by shop at Dinmore qld...

I boyght my first bow today i went in confident that i could deaw 70 lbs and i hit a brick wall i could not make it budge i ended up getting a martin hawk with 50lb draw

Patience is a virtue.......BS. Not when you got a new bow sitting there, calling out to you. I got a new Shootdown, still waiting on a worthy sight and a couple stabilizer mounts. erg0centric that's right, first time, it's wound down to min. so about 30# but i can pull and hold at full draw a 70# recurve for almost a minute.

Patrick Taghon I think it’s a difference in KNOWING how to do it properly. People are ignorant and don’t want to learn anything so they just grab it and try what they wanna do, which is half the time WRONG!

You want low let off, longer bows. If you twist your drawing hand you will derail most bows. You just need to be careful and never draw a bow which is to heavy.

All my bows can be adjusted to 70 ibs, But i usually keep them around 55 - 60 ibs depending on how i feel.

Haven’t shot my bow in about 7 years. Went out the other day and shot it and the string derailed. Could it just be that it hasn’t be used in a long time or what?

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right but I never grip my bow the only time my fingers touch is when I'm carrying it and immediately after the shot to keep from dropping it,. Is it possible to torque the bow still?

I was trying to use a quick release for the first time and must have torqued it. Now there's a small fray in the string. I have no idea how to line the string back up or of i can get it back on the cams myself.

Easy fix for the vanes hitting the cables readjust the knock for clearance

I know this is a compound bow video, but maybe someone can answer for me. I use a Recurve Hoyt Satori, and had it derail, or more like explode on me twice ?? String was set in tips, waxed, not frayed, right size for bow, brace set good, tiller one quarter more on top limb, then on bottom, everything looked good, what might be the problem ??? The manufacturer shouldn't make the cable guard able to adjust to such an extent that it will cause problems. That's bad design.

How does a derail with a release happen? I managed to do this, and I'm not sure how it happened. I don't know if my muscles were too tired after shooting for the day, or if I managed to knock something out of alignment and didn't notice.

a club member had simmilar happen to his mathews Avail, but rather then the cam flexing and hitting the limb his limb stop? over rotated and stripped some of the limb and ended up on the other side of the limb. would this be a concern to you? our club president/bow tech said it was fine.

Timing marks, do they change when you wind down the bow? Also is the string on the dominator vertical, and on the centerline of the riser?

no Timing marks indicate the cable lengths. All bows should be at the center of the riser.

Thanks so much, I removed the cables and set them to factory spec length with my bow master. I can see you cringing, but the timing marks are dead on now.

Also, I did read the PSE setup guide, and they recommend the two o'clock position for the cable guide. YMMV. I have a flex guide, so it's another pain to set-up after changing the cable lengths.

my bow derailed because there was a plant in the idler wheel how i know this because it was still stuck in there when i inspected it i was drawing back witha arrow nocked and using a release aid also i shoot 70 its easy for me i checked everything limbs strings cam and wheel look good now i got to go to the shop and press the bow i have new custom strings on it too ,the other thing is i went hunting today i didnt chk to see if there was anything stuck in the wheel and of times i didnt chk this time.......oh the fkn string bitch slapped me to lucky i had glasses on would of slapped my eye ball it sounds dramatic ,but to me the derail is the best kind u can hope for because everthing still looks good
