I just want to say thank you for taking the time to make/post these 25 lessons to KZbin. I just finished the TEAS exam this morning and ended up doing very well. I will forward your TEAS study playlist to my friends who have not taken the exam yet. These lessons were fantastic, and certainly helped boost my science score :) Take care!!

@@professoryu5571 well my science was 83 😭 but better than I got the first time I took it. Unfortunately both times I only had 1 day to study cuz of last minute changes. I know I could have done a lot better on the science section but the overall 87.3 was enough to get me the full 30/30 points on the multi criteria for the TEAS section for the school I’m in the middle of the app cycle with. :)

Thank you so much for making these videos. I have the TEAS 7 book and am using that, note cards, and your videos to review. The heart structure and all the different valves are very confusing to me visually in a lot of the diagrams but I found some online that are clearer in the exact flow. I'm hoping there won't be many questions on it though lol!!! I'm going to have to just learn how to draw and label it myself over and over.

You are very welcome! The heart structure and the blood flow pathway are complex and confusing indeed! But I'm glad to hear that you've found some diagrams that you like, and I second your idea of drawing and labeling the structures on your own. I promise if you do it enough times, you will be a pro on that! 😊 Nobody can learn the information for you but yourself - your positive attitude and hard work will pay off!

Here's Lesson 1 with higher volume: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5O0lGOjfMuAba8 (you will notice that for each lesson, I have a higher volume version because my voice in the original videos was too soft. If you are okay with the original videos, you can go to the description box and it will list links to all the videos, which makes it easy for you to follow. I haven't compiled a list for the higher volume videos yet so you probably need to go to the channel page and then the playlist for TEAS Science to find those videos. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi professor yu, I recently took the teas and I have 2 questions that I am unsure of the right answer. The first asked a loss of what causes the pH in blood to decrease. The answer choices were oxygen, carbonate, CO2, and carbon. The second question asked about “what hypothesis supports the idea that viruses can cause cancer?” I can’t remember what the answer choices for this question was. Thank you
@professoryu5571
@professoryu5571 Жыл бұрын
Hello! Those are really good but also tricky questions so I can see why you were not sure about the answer. For the first question, you need to know a few things to answer the question correctly: (1) a decrease in pH means the blood is getting more acidic (lower pH is more acidic); (2) CO2 causes acidity in blood because CO2 dissolves in water and that generates a weak acid (H2CO3) and subsequently, hydrogen ions which makes a solution acidic; (3) to maintain acid/base balance (pH homeostasis), the body utlizes chemical buffers such as carbonate ions and phosphate ions so that the pH of the internal environmental does not deviate too much from the normal range. With all the above three things in mind, you can then figure out that the correct answer is carbonate. This is because (1) carbondate is a buffer; if you lose the buffering capability, even just a little extra CO2 could throw the blood pH off balance and make the pH to decrease/lower; (2) CO2 makes blood more acidic and therefore, a loss of CO2 will cause the blood pH to increase, not decrease. Too little CO2 in blood makes blood less acidic, more basic/alkaline; (3) O2 does not affect blood pH; (4) carbon, depending on what form (eg, carbonate ions, or non water soluable organic compound), may or may not affect pH. Hope this helps 🙂 I will type the answer to the second question in another reply.
@professoryu5571
@professoryu5571 Жыл бұрын
About the second question, there can be different ways to hypothesize that. For instance, you can say something like (human) populations infected with the virus has higher cancer rate than the populations without infection. Or it could something more experimental, like lab animals infected with the virus develop X cancer (whatever the type is) whereas control animals do not develop cancer.
