Yeah, even while CX sounds so sh*t and unnatural, G1 sounds so impressive. Haven't tried C1 yet but I think they might be the same since they are the same year model. G1 sounds a bit worse than A80J. A80J is cleaner but the difference isn't too much. If you don't compare the G1's sound to an A80J then anybody would be satisfied with its sound on TV shows.

BROOO THANK YOUUUUU just got my 65” yesterday absolutely insane to me personally that I was able to afford a high performance oled much less one over 55”. I’ve never spent over $600 on a tv, not because I don’t know what’s good but simply because budgeting just never has room for a $2000 piece of tech ya know. But being hooked up playing this morning I was truly sad after getting out of eco mode and turning my pixels up and all that jazz. This right here is exactly what I was needing! More color without loosing latency.

Really good and to the point setting overall I set it up pretty much the same as for using Game Optimizer for black and white levels its really quick and useful You can also fine-tone the level on the PS5 itself with the HDR tuner setting to get the same result by make dark setting a bit brighter (its a good idea for LG oled since they kind of tend to calibrate extra dark to the point you start losing some shadow details) The PS5 at least for me, is displaying HDR for all games (came set like that out of the box) and I end up kinda like the effect even if it forced (I do use auto tune mapping for HDR maybe this is why) its like using reshade on PC to make your games pop if you want to use HDR only on supported game and SDR for the rest then you should change that settings on the PS5 (Keep in mind you will need to set up the SDR picture profile on your TV) As a C1 owner I find myself using the Game Optimizer mode only for online , Fighting games and fast paced shooters for the rest I like to actually use Home Cinema HDR even I was skeptical about using it and maybe its just me but I could not tell a huge different in latency for most games I wouldn't dismiss using it or at least give it a shot after all it unable you to use the benefits of the processing power you paid for when you bought the TV here's my experience with it if you or anyone else wants to try -Ai picture pro On I cant really explain what it does but for me it gives a 3dimantinaly feel to the images when gaming does great for open world games -Auto Genre Selection - I turn OFF it mess with the colors to much and doesn't really adds anything in my experience -Super resolution on hight basiclly smart upscale -Auto dynamic Contract can be useful for some games I find myself likening the Hight preset most of the time -Smooth Gradation useful tool for smoother transition between colors -TruMotion after I fine tune for liking in user selection mode I mainly use for 30 fps games to get rid of judder (find setting it to 3-4 good for it and some game deblur around 5-6) As for the rest of the settings I do turn them off and make sure power save is also turned off

Great video. Just got this TV and have been racking my brain over all these settings trying to get it how I like it. Quick question, I'm noticing the settings aren't saving. Can I do a settings profile for each HDMI input? For example, a separate profile for my live TV, my PS4, PS5, etc.? And will they save? Still trying to figure out how all this works.
@steadychaosproductions3376

Thank you for this video, I really appreciated it, it really helped me out understanding on how HDR works, when it comes to HDR I'm complete noob on this and never know how to set it up correctly. On my CX I get a washed out image in HDR and my Average Picture Level looks very dim when playing anything with HDR but it could be that I've set HDR up wrong in the calibration menu on the PS5 / Series X, will calibrate it with HGIG from now on on both consoles. I wish the CX got the game optimizer because I do struggle to see in dark scenes and that white and black stabilizer can really help me with that but I understand it's for 2021 LG Oleds only.
@steadychaosproductions3376

Yes, calibrating with HGiG will def help. Also, while the CX may not have optimizer, it does have "fine tune dark areas." You just have to be playing in VRR for it to function. As far as calibrating HGiG, check out this video I did on the matter, it may help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGKagYZug5WWebM

I have two speakers 2.0 (studio monitors) (stereo) from Edifier and i have connected them via optical spdif right away to my LG C1. When I press the button with the 3 dots on my control and then click ‘Information’ it displays up a small screen which shows the information that the TV is currently displaying, and it says HDR, PCM etc but it also shows BT.2020 instead of the 2.2 which is greyed out in my brightness settings. Is this correct? I mean when I go to my brightness settings the gamma is automatically set to 2.2 and cannot be changed since its greyed out, however on this information screen it is coming up as BT.2020.
@steadychaosproductions3376

thats correct, as you are playing in HDR, which uses DCI P3 color gamut in a BT2020 color gamut container. Gamma is grayed out because in HDR, TVs do not operate with 2.2, 2.4 gamma etc (thats for SDR). Instead, in HDR, the TV uses the ST2084 standard.

Sometimes games don't always support system level calibration, which is why I always adjust in game sliders as well. Typically, I adjust the sliders for maximum brightness - but make sure you don't set them so high you experience clipping in highlights. Often times, just setting the slider to 750 nits doesn't provide the best result.

@steadychaosproductions3376
@steadychaosproductions3376 3 жыл бұрын
Ideally you'll watch movies from a different source and not bother using PC mode. PC mode on the C1 allows for 444 or RGB, but movies are all encoded in chroma 420 anyway, so using PC mode with movies is kinda pointless, and may even be detrimental in the sense that the TV will have to try and upconvert 420 source material to 444, which could add noise or degrade the picture. Your best bet is using PC mode for gaming and personal computer use only. And with movies, use wifi via the C1 for streaming. By default, the C1 will render chroma 422 when not in PC mode, which is much closer to the 420 movies are encoded in. The less image conversions your source or TV has to make, the better.

I have the G1 and XSX and PS5. A couple questions: 1) G-sync/Freesync/VRR - I know PS5 doesn't support these but it may in a future update. For that reason I leave them on. Everyone I've asked said that there is no negative impact at all and I never noticed anything. Is there something I'm missing? 2) Noticed you recommend BFI off. I've got it turned on XSX and tested the same 3rd party game, NHL22, which is probably the best game actually notice input lag because it's so fast paced. The motion just looks so much better on the XSX with the artificial 120hz. Everything looks good and plays good actually. I've had it off on the PS5 and turned on on the XSX for a couple months now. So I was considering turning it on my PS5. Any thoughts? You went over this really quickly. I've heard people mention dimming resulting from it but I don't see anything dimming at all on the XSX. The only dimming is a setting I have enabled on the console if the controller is inactive in case I need to pause. Had me thinking those comments/recommendations might be outdated now due to a firmware update. Can you comment? Thanks!
@steadychaosproductions3376

1) yeah, leaving them on will have no effect, negative or positive. Its fine. 2) If BFI looks good to you, absolutely run it. It does dim the picture a tad, and it may introduce a hair more input lag, but if the motion clarity improves your experience a great deal, you should use it.

@steadychaosproductions3376

There's a difference between the source and the display. In order to get true RGB, you need the source (PS5/XSX) to send RGB and you need the display (C1) to receive and properly render RGB. If you just set the PS5 to send RGB but leave the C1 in game console mode rather than PC mode, then the C1 will only display 422, regardless of the fact that its being fed RGB by the PS5.

Nothing, other than the fact the C1 will render chroma 422 in game mode, and chroma 444/RGB in PC mode. Oh, and PC mode often grays out some picture settings for the user.

Do you know if Im supposed to set every game’s HDR implementation to the exact same NITS of the TV? What I mean for example is when I play AC Odyssey or any other game that allows me to adjust HDR peak luminance it often displays a number that is called ‘NITS’ which is supposed to be set according to the maximum nits available/displayed on your TV. Now after some googling it turns out LG C1 has a max of around 750 nits (if this is untrue or you have different knowledge then be sure to share it). So my question is should I also use around this number (e.g 700, 750 or 800 etc) when setting the luminance in HDR settings in game? Or am I supposed to go a further notch more and set it a few hundred up, supposedly at 900, or 1200 etc? Or no, since that would oversaturate the colours? Because in AC Odyssey the default luminance was at 800 NITS and I assumed thats because the game detected my TV’s nits, and since the game’s luminance only goes up in hundreds there was no middle option for 750, its only 700, 800, 900 etc and so on. There is also an option for ‘Paper white’ which is basically how bright white scenery or objects will appear, and that is set to default at 120. Not all games however will display this ‘Peak luminance’ setting, whereas some will simply just have brightness/contrast. I just wanted to make sure I’m doing the right thing, if my LG C1 is 750 NITS should I be setting the game peak luminance to 750 aswell, or 800 (if hundreds are the only options), or further; you might have a lot more information regarding this.

You have the right idea. Typically, you'll set the peak luminance to match your TV's brightness, and in most applications, this will work just fine. That said, I would encourage you to play around with the sliders to get the best possible HDR performance. What looks good? what clips and doesnt look good? For example, with Far Cry 6, I set my peak luminance at around 1800 nits, even though Im on the LG C1 which - as you say - peaks around 750 nits. Games can be quirky with their HDR tone mapping, so using a nit level higher than your TV's max brightness doesn't necessarily mean you're doing something wrong. In the end, I'd say pump the nits up to a point where you start to see clipping, then back it down a bit to the point where said clipping subsides.

PC simply allows the CX or C1 to display full color information, otherwise known as 444 or RGB. If you dont use PC mode, then the CX or C1 will display partial color information by default, which is known as 422. PC mode can be used with any source, like an XSX, PS5, or PC.
