@samuel59163 жыл бұрын
@@oezibanana8664 Economies of scale, the TV market is far larger than the gaming monitor market so that’s enabled them to get the prices down to reasonable levels. If they produced smaller panel sizes the volume just wouldn’t be there so they might actually cost more than the big TV panels ironically. That and the OLED issues Tim described for everyday use as a monitor. Burn-in and low brightness are just a necessary evil of OLED screens and can’t be fixed until Micro-LED replaces it.
@BangSkeeet3 жыл бұрын
Not really. The Aorus 43" has sufficiently dark Blacks and very high peak brightness that make OLEDs look silly. Also OLEDs still have perma burn-in issue. The U8G 55" is peak 1200-1500nit HDR and its local dimming is excellent as well. No Halo/ABR, no issues with tracking or anything like that. OLEDs will be good once theyre able to break that 1200-2000nit SUSTAINED barrier. Until then, it's just a gimmick of turning off pixels which is only okay with very specific content and videos designed to show off oled. Virtually 0 content in the realworld require PERFECT/extremely dark blacks.

@@Druze_Tito Maybe not fluidity, but you'd certainly be better off competitively with a 360Hz display over CRT. I see many people asking about desk setup, placement, and size. I have a pretty huge desk, Autonomous 70.5" x 30" XL, but I also work from home a lot and would not want to use the monitor as a main display, since I also use a 35" Ultrawide and 3 27" inch panels. (there are 2 PCs at play here) I had been looking for ideas and other people's setups with the C1 with multiple monitors, but couldn't find any examples. So I have decided to use the C1 on a separate desk to the right of the main setup. I have done this because the C1 will only be used to mainly for AAA gaming and other media consumption. When I got it, I wasn't sure how this was gonna work out but it's fine for now. I am leaning towards wall mounting it behind the main desk since the other 4 panels are on monitor arms and able to be swung around and out of the way when not used.

@Axeiaa3 жыл бұрын
Making it smaller is actually hard to do, it's why we don't have OLED monitors (or more accurately very few and for very VERY high prices) - monitor sized OLED panels are hard to do. However; leaving out a whole bunch of this TV specific software that can require somewhat expensive chips (like video decoding, content recognition, running WebOS, AI upscaling etc) could knock some off the price. They could also as Steve sort of suggests make it curved to better suited for sitting closer to it (like at a desk). A monitor like this with as little 'smart' technology so keep input latency to a minimum would be great. Even by reducing the amount of costly parts any other changes (like making it curved) might still make it end up somewhat similarly priced however due to economy of scale (easier to sell millions of high-end TVs than pricy niche monitors).

Used the CX for 45 days for working (network engineering 8-10 hours a day). The display is absolutely incredible, and it’s unmatched by any pc monitor. But, I had burn in within that 45 days. I made some mistakes, sure (should have changed my background more often and moved my browser windows more often) but even with those mistakes, 45 days Is not a long time.. The next issue is the size. My desk is 30 inches deep and I had this mounted on a monitor arm (to get it as far away as possible) able to support its weight and the size and how close I was to the monitor began to bother me. Lowered oled light to around 30 and I still had an issue. Would get eye strain after some time and began getting headaches. I don’t think this happens for everyone honestly as I have seen online that people are unbothered by that. So take that for what it’s worth. The next is asbl, it can be turned off but I never did, and if you are using this for work, it’s annoying. Plain and simple. Sure you can turn it off but like I said, I had burn in within 45 days and asbl helps protect against that. (I could be wrong there if so, forgive me). That’s a few negatives. The positives are the picture and specifically the blacks. I’m still having a hard time getting use to my ips panels and the backlight bleed..man the picture is sooo good. I also disagree on the text, I had no problem with text clarity and imo it looked better than my ips panel (I have the lg32850 that was compared to the size of this tv in this video). At the end of the day, I miss it. I’m hopeful for gigabytes oled monitor but I just foresee problems with that as well. Really I would like to see a 43 inch oled monitor/tv. Btw i used the cx tv with a 3080 hdmi 2.1. I honestly had a hard time gaming on it sitting so close. I primarily play FPS though, other game types would be okay imo. We been neglected for way too long. Pc users are so weirdly cultish about "must use desktop pc at desk!" that they can't even imagine other setups. I asked for help on a fanless 1U server, and mods of the forum laughed saying it had to sound like a hair dryer. They couldn't fathom an atom setup, even though it was obvious, and had been used before in other setups, just not in a 1U server chassis. Asking the pc community to be creative, sadly, I don't see creativity beyond a set boundary. By the time Linus, hardware unboxed, or nexjs covers something novel, I've been doing it for years. Like the multiple gamers, one pc setup. And I'm not even as knowledgeable as them. Just more creative.

I've watched this before getting the C1 OLED and again after having it for several months now. I still agree that LCD monitors are the better desktop experience. While OLED has really great performance and image quality, the automatic dimming and enormous sizes (plus chance of burn-in) just doesn't justify OLED for desktop usage yet. I want to use a monitor without having to adjust the way I use it and dealing with the OLED safeguards in place. I still prefer using my 38" 144hz Nano IPS Ultrawide (AW3821DW) for both general usage/gaming over the C1 OLED, but the OLED is perfect for watching TV shows and movies on the couch.

The C1 with a vertical 4k/60 monitor on the side has been the best thing ever. Whenever I have walls of texts or UIs, it goes on the monitor, and video content goes on the C1, and has a moving wallpaper whenever it's inactive. Since I own an OLED and game on it, I’ll give you my insight, first off, the picture quality is unbeatable, take the 3000 dollar mini led from ASUS, it still blooms with 1152 zones, i personally don’t like blooming at all so it’s out of the question and you can buy 2 OLEDs for the price of the ASUS, secondly I’d like to point out just how dazzling pure blacks can be, contrast matters just as much brightness, don’t let anyone tell you that only brightness matters, the C1 gets plenty bright for HDR, thirdly, pixel response times are unmatched, near instant response times, coupled with g-sync And 120hz, it makes for a very smooth gaming experience, if you really care about competitive gaming and think 360hz monitors make you a match better gamer, sure this isn’t for you but if you like picture quality and don’t want to deal with IPS horrible contrast or backlight bleed and just want a beautiful looking picture while having some gaming chops, this is absolutely for you, now let’s talk aboute burn in because that’s what people without OLEDs like to spam as if it’s still a problem, news flash, it isn’t if you’re responsible and don’t buy it to use for news watching for hours on end, i have 1500 hours on my Oled and I have 0 burn in. LG has built in features to help mitigate that, do yourself a favour and search up KZbin videos of actual owners and see if they have burn in, 99% of them won’t because they knew the risk before had and take the necessary precautions to help prevent it, if you still don’t find that the pros massively outweigh the cons, stick to your gaming monitor.

@@lexsanderz Reddit and notepad editors are no problem for OLED, especially if you're using a proper black background (which you should use even if you don't have OLED, since they look much better and are healthier to your eyes, only stupid people wouldn't want black backgrounds). I think there's enough bandwidth for 1,000 Hz with HDMI 2.1, when using DSC for 1080p. But I'm pretty sure I'd be happier with 1440p at 480, or 4k 240.

@@saintkamus14 4K 240 would be absolutely fantastic for a "future proof" gaming display, especially with the HDR experience that OLEDs are known for. Personally, I would love to see a 1,000Hz display if LG can tweak the already superlative response time of their panel down to the sub 1ms response time a kilohertz requires
@saintkamus143 жыл бұрын
@@shootinbruin3614 All we need is for LG to add DSC support for future products. Because from what I understand, the current panels (from 2019 and up) are actual 240hz panels. However, I think they use the "extra" refresh rate for dithering at the moment. There's a good chance people would prefer the motion clarity of 240hz on an OLED, to 360hz on an LCD. I can think of some e-sport titles that would have no problem hitting 240 FPS, even at 4k.

best review of this TV on youtube, hands down. It basically answered ALL my questions for potentially using this as a monitor, which as it turns out is not what I want anymore after watching this. I think if they released a 40" version, It might be feasible but 48" is still too big for desktop use.

If they made a 1440p resolution that was like 32” since that is roughly the same pixel density, I bet they would sell a ton of monitors

No point in anybody going 1440p now that DLSS is a thing.

@@odizzido Even basically resolution scaling looks good on a 4k monitor. It's not like the days where you sent 720p signal to a 1080p monitor. And then more games will have temporal reconstruction techniques and whatnot.

@@lulkLoganPossibly, but even with DLSS not all 3000 series cards can hit 120fps, plus AMD cards and we could used older cards with HDMI 2.0 at 1440p 120 fps

I had one of these get significant burn in within 3 months just as a casual movie TV, refused a replacement and got a refund. I'll try whatever comes after OLED.

I own a LG 65B7V bougth in November 2017 and with 12.000 hours of use - only TV. Burn in NatGeo yelow logo and red footer boxes and central area. Most noticeable with solid red backgrounds. I would consider another oled if prices drop to a point where i can throw them away after 4 years. For PC use? You decide.

If they can make a 27"-32" of this TV with a display port connection, it's will be an instant buy for me! 👍
@Dr.WhetFarts3 жыл бұрын
Displayport why? All decent GPUs today have HDMI 2.1 which does 120 Hz at 4K/UHD with HDR as in 4:4:4 chroma subsampling. If you are using a GPU without HDMI 2.1 you will not be able to drive 4K/UHD at 80-120 fps anyway...

I'm not quite sure about the comments on brightness. My 65" OLED C1 is extremely bright even in a well lit natural light environment. I can't even go beyond 85% brightness or it hurts my eyes
