All three poles are used and looped on the contractor/overload for single phase motors so that the overload can read the current correctly, as internally the overload is design to work having current on every pole of the overload. I only found this out because I had one to do in the past, and of course Google to the rescue.

In my case at winery I usually set our giant pump over units to pump wine out of tanks I Will most likely set that switch to the highest load capacity because on initial start up your pump will pull so much amps and power most of our equipment is either from 480 to 680 V and usually the cellar guys just run the pumps dry after its pump everything out of the tank 😠

The control thats in the Air compressor Electrical box is called a "Starter" and the dial should be set at the full load of the motor x the Service Factor. look at motor nameplate and find the RLA or FLA then find the SF number, usually 1.15 can go upto 1.45..FLA or RLA x SF..then adjust the dial to that number or close to it. Single phase is usually 3 wires, 1 ground and 2 live legs or 4 wire..1 ground, 1 neutral and 2 live legs...3 phase is 3 live legs or 4 wire with ground or 5 wire with ground and neutral. The BX or greenfield that was installed looks much longer than 6ft. code is max 6 feet in NYC, anything longer the inspector will not pass you. The place is looking good..cool vlog

I believe any length is OK between the disconnect and the motor junction box. There is a limit on the motor leads though.

Also the overload trips with current imbalance between the three poles therefore needing that loop of wire to pass through the third pole of the contactor.

Yes, I'm an idiot. I had the limit switch wires crossed. There was never any issue with the breaker.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised. It certainly isn't quiet, but it was not nearly as loud as I thought it would be.

Just wondered exactly what model the compressor? Have used a die grinder with it?

Very surprised this guy didn't got with the German made Kaeser screw compressor. More money than the piston compressor, but fare more quiet and more efficient.

I wanted that, but Kaeser recommended against it. Screw compressors need to be used often. Otherwise they will have major issues.

What are you doing for removing the condensate sitting at the bottom of the tank? Looks like some sort of automatic drain valve but didn't get a very good view of it. I have an automatic electronic drain valve on my compressor tank, but it leaks like crazy. I'm trying to figure out a different/better solution.

It's a Prevost Magnetic float drain. I'll have it in the next video.

You are missing anti short bushings in that control panel on the compressor.

I'm sure the guy knows what he's doing, and probably knows Florida electrical code requirements backwards and forwards. If not, the anti-short bushings come split, so it would be easy enough to just slip one in there around the wires.
