What is normal compression on a diesel engine?
275 to 400 psi What is good compression on a diesel engine? Good compression on a diesel engine falls in the range of 275 to 400 psi. You typically don't want to have a variance of more than 10% between cylinders.
An engine compression test will tell you many things about the mechanical condition of your engine. The test can detect, for example, pressure leaks through rings, cylinders, valves, or a head gasket without taking apart the engine. So you'll save a lot of time and money in diagnostics.
You can compression test the cylinders with the help of a compression gauge. All you have to do is connect the gauge in place of a spark plug and test each cylinder pressure in turn. Once you have the results, you compare your gauge reading to manufacturer specifications and interpret your results.

This is how to compression test a diesel engine tractor. Compression testing a diesel engine is different than a gasoline engine. Diesel engine compression tester gauges read a much higher pressure. A regular gasoline engine compression tester gauge won't work!

I have fhe the same engine and its losing power under load. It runs fine when its not loaded. It starts fine. Im going to try injectors. What symptoms does your engine have ?

Mine would do the same. Sounded great and checked out fine compression wise, but ended up being an injector pump and injectors. I sold the tractor too.

What is spec. and should you do wet test?

I am not sure what spec is on this machine and it will vary on different engines. I do usually disconnect the injectors.

Yes, it should still work. The pressure reading will be much lower than diesel but the kit should still do the job.

@@tiago10alves10 The diesel kit comes with many different adapters for injectors and glow plugs. I think I remember that one of the adaptors fit spark plug holes too but I am not 100% sure.

No, the engine is good. It's a fuel injection pump issue. Going to replace it.
