Thanks for this ! Just got a "hobby" direct drive 21Litre one. Good info. Very first run from new (breaking in) I was advised by the manual to run with no load, i.e. with the drain-cock open, for 1 minute to ensure correct lubrication...before applying a load. Another part of the manual I had said "don't run a tool when the compressor is pumping..". As I said mine is a hobby one :) Cheers!

You can add few drop of oil on the air filter, compress it with your finger to spread the oil in the fibers, it helps to catch dust particles.

Water in the oil is what kills compressors . The dot in the sight glass is to detect water in the oil . Water passes the piston rings and collects in the crank case oil . If you fill the oil to the dot you can tell if you are loosing oil . But if the oil rises above the dot the oil has water in it . Compressor oil should not mix with water so the oil level will rise without coloring the oil .Compressors with oil pumps have an O in the sight glass , put the oil to the bottom of the O and if it fills to the top of the O the water is to the fill pipe on the pump .

Is it not important the motor remains truly square to the frame? Otherwise the drive wheel and compressor wheel are not properly aligned, this can create stress on the shaft bearings, leading to wear and potential failure. At the very least it will shorten the bearing lifespans. Good video.

I’ve got the same model but I’ve got a constant oil leak under the pump. Not sure if it’s the gasket or an easy fix, it comes through the corners under the pump mounted on the black frame. Any ideas what it can be

Belt drive compressor... What type of oil goes into the 2nd oil filler port located above the large spinning wheel area??? Nobody ever spoken about it online not sure whether to put compressor oil in or not.
@sealeytools3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mr Coop, we recommend that you check the manufacturers instructions, as there are several types of compressor oils used.

I think an important fact to include along with the tank needing replacing, if you don't remove the condensation, is the part where the tank could explode lol

My compressor is leaking oil from the back cover, if i keep the oil at the right level, is it still safe to use?
@sealeytools3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Ideally for safety you should fit a new gasket/seal. As long as you maintain the oil level it will still be safe to use.

so what happens now when you drain the tank and rust comes out? is the tank no good anymore? or can you still fix it?
@sealeytools3 жыл бұрын
Hi, the water will always be orange because the condensation will corrode in the tank. As long as you regularly empty the tank, it will be fine to continue using.
@wanderingandroid3 жыл бұрын
@@sealeytools but how do i know when the tank is no good anymore from the corrosion inside?
@sealeytools3 жыл бұрын
@@wanderingandroid Hi, It's very difficult to tell. ideally you would need to get it assessed by a safety engineer. They will asses the depth of the corrosion with an endoscope.

Very sorry for the long delay. Due to reduced staffing levels because of COVID. It all depends on what compressor you're using so we recommend you refer to your user manual. Or visit their website if you no longer have it.

@@jo6520 , Congratulations on finding a "working" compressor in the rubbish! At such a mature age, it probably doesn't need break-in, but most likely does indeed need major maintenance. If you ship it to me here in Nepal (40 km Southeast of Katmandu), return postage pre-paid, I will be DELIGHTED to completely overhaul/rebuild/restore it for ONLY $199.95US + machine-shop fees, parts, labour, taxes and my service charges.
