I'm sorry, but for Question 37 I am always going to go with answer C. Its the easiest and quickest check to do and all it takes is a glance. There are many users who don't understand that they will automatically print to the printer set as default and if they want to print to a different printer they have to manually select that printer. After checking the default printer you can go ahead and check if the driver is properly installed. If you go by Occam's razor this is the best answer.

For question 26, I have to agree with a few people here. The correct answer is B - Raid 1. If you are installing "an additional 2TB hard drive," you are only adding ONE hard drive. Assuming the user only has one main hard drive already, altogether you have two hard drives. Hence Raid 1. Raid 5 requires THREE hard drives and there is nowhere in the question that states the user has two hard drives. If we start assuming the user has more than one hard drive already, then technically, RAID 10 could also be the correct answer. They could already have three hard drives already and you are adding an additional one. While I agree that Comptia throw out trick questions with their wording, the answer to Q26 is Raid 1.

Q49. In the question there is no mention of fault tolerance, but your explanations include that as the main reason why you chose RAID 10 as the correct answer. However, I would contend that RAID 0 is the correct answer based solely on the wording of your question.

@techvaultacademy
@techvaultacademy 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I respect your opinion, but I disagree with your contention that RAID 0 is the correct answer. Let me explain why. The question states that the company wants to improve server performance by using multiple hard drives together as a single volume. This implies that the company wants to achieve both speed and reliability with their storage solution. Therefore, the technician should implement a RAID level that provides both performance improvement and fault tolerance. RAID 0 does not meet this requirement, as it does not provide any fault tolerance. If one drive fails, all data is lost and the server performance is severely affected. RAID 0 only improves performance by distributing data across multiple drives, but it does not provide any redundancy or protection. RAID 10 does meet this requirement, as it provides both performance improvement and fault tolerance. Data is striped across multiple mirrored pairs of drives, offering both increased speed and reliability. RAID 10 can sustain multiple drive failures as long as they do not occur within the same mirrored pair. Therefore, the answer is RAID 10, not RAID 0. I hope this clarifies the question and the answer for you. If you have any more questions or feedback, please let me know. I appreciate your support and interest in my channel. 😊

@@techvaultacademy The problem is your question is vague. I understand where you're going, but your only keyword is "performance", not disaster, fault, or failure tolerant. @@TmissinglinkC I think you are right. And really as a tech I wouldn't even do the job unless I asked client what they expect from fault tolerance. Q44. it asks about how many "additional" disks can fail. The answer would be 0. because if it loses another "1" disk, you would lose all the data.
@blairstewart5636
@blairstewart5636 11 ай бұрын
That is incorrect. RAID 5 has to have a minimum of three disk. It doesn’t say specifically how many disk there are, so you default to 3. RAID 5 uses parity meaning each of the three disk would 33% of the data. If one disk fails, you have 66% of the data still and the computer can reconstruct the data. If two disk fails you only have 33% and the computer cannot reconstruct the data.
@TmissinglinkC
@TmissinglinkC 11 ай бұрын
@@blairstewart5636 Except you said in the question how many MORE ADDITIONAL drives can fail WITHOUT data loss. No more additional drives can fail, because you would have data loss if another drive failed. So, the answer is 0 more drives can fail, "If two disk fails you only have 33%" if another drive fails, you only have 33% of the data because 2 drives have now failed...because the technician is already replacing ONE FAILED DRIVE. Now, if your question said something like, "A technician is working on a RAID 5 array and suspects a failed drive, how many drives can fail before data loss?" Then, the answer would be 1. Edit: taking out extra words.
@blairstewart5636

@@TmissinglinkC the question does not say how many more. It says which of the following describes how many additional drives can fail without data loss. Thank you for your comment! Are you referring to question 11 and question 21? If so, the answers I provided are correct for the two questions because of the following reasons: Question 11 is about documents printing out of order. The most likely component that needs to be replaced is the registration assembly, which is responsible for ensuring that the paper is properly aligned and synchronized as it passes through the printer. Question 21 is about a user getting an error message that a printer has a paper jam when there is no jam present. The technician should check the pickup rollers first, as they are responsible for feeding the paper into the printer. If the pickup rollers are dirty or damaged, they may not be able to grip the paper properly, which can cause a paper jam error message, even if there is no actual paper jam. Which of these two printer troubleshooting questions do you think is more relevant to the CompTIA A+ exam?

@@jbrone1241 Yes and that would mean it's still on the LAN, which IS a network is it not? If so, it's still on the network, just the Local Area Network. Any host that loses it's connection to the network can not communicate to any other host! Firstly, I greatly appreciate your content and thank you for this helpful material. For Q14, If the printer server lost network connectivity, wouldn't that also affect the onsite users, assuming they are communicating to this printer via network connection? The answers seems like it should be 'B' because if the incorrect driver is installed remotely, then only remote users would have printing issues and not onsite users. Please clarify this minor confusion.
@techvaultacademy
@techvaultacademy Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your appreciation, and I'm here to clarify the confusion. In Question 14, the issue is that remote users are unable to print, while onsite users can still print. The MOST likely cause for this scenario is D) Print server lost network connectivity. This is because a loss of network connectivity would affect remote users more than onsite users. Here's a bit more detail to explain: - A) Print server firmware is outdated**: While outdated firmware can indeed cause issues, it would typically affect all users, both remote and onsite, rather than just remote users. - B) Incorrect driver is installed remotely: If an incorrect driver is the issue, it's possible it could affect remote users, but it would also cause problems for onsite users who are using the same print server. In this case, the problem seems to be more isolated to remote users. - C) Print spooler service not running**: If the print spooler service were not running, it would indeed affect all users, both remote and onsite, as this service is crucial for printing. So, the specific scenario described in the question suggests a network connectivity issue that primarily impacts remote users, making **D) Print server lost network connectivity the most likely cause. I hope this clarifies your concern, and if you have more questions or need further explanations, feel free to ask! 👍🖨️📡

Hi your videos are very helpful. If you wouldn’t mind could you elaborate a little more on print spooler and stalled print queue when troubleshooting print issues.
@techvaultacademy
@techvaultacademy 11 ай бұрын
Hi Nolannor, thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you're finding the videos helpful. Absolutely, let's dive into the mysterious world of print spoolers and stalled queues. The Print Spooler: Traffic Cop of the Printing World Imagine the print spooler as a kind of air traffic controller for your documents. When you send a file to print, it doesn't go straight to the printer. Instead, it gets parked in the spooler's holding bay, like planes waiting to take off. The spooler then manages the queue, sending documents one by one to the printer, ensuring everything runs smoothly (hopefully!). Stalled Queue: When the Documents Get Stuck But sometimes, things don't go as planned. Just like on a busy runway, documents can get stuck in the queue, refusing to budge. This is what we call a stalled print queue. It can be frustrating, leaving you with a printer that refuses to cooperate. Troubleshooting Tips for Unclogging the Queue Fear not, Nolan! Here are some things you can try to get those documents flying again: 1. Restart the Print Spooler Service: This is the digital equivalent of giving the air traffic controller a coffee break and a reboot. Simply: Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type services.msc and press Enter. Find the Print Spooler service. Right-click it and select Restart. 2. Clear the Print Queue: Sometimes, rogue documents can block the whole queue. To banish them: Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers. Right-click your printer and select Open print queue. Select all the stuck documents and press Delete. 3. Check for Driver Issues: Outdated or faulty drivers can disrupt the printing flow. Update your printer drivers from the manufacturer's website, or try switching to a generic driver. 4. Hardware Hiccups: Make sure your printer is turned on and properly connected. Check for any paper jams or ink cartridge issues. 5. Seek Professional Help: If none of these tips work, it might be time to call in the IT cavalry. A professional can diagnose and fix any deeper hardware or software problems. Bonus Tip: Remember, prevention is always better than cure! Regularly maintain your printer by cleaning its rollers and sensors, and updating its firmware. By following these steps, you should be able to get your print queue moving again and those documents flowing out of the printer like clockwork. Happy printing, Nolannor! And if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. We're always here to help you navigate the sometimes tricky world of tech.

Question 41: It was already confirmed that the printer prints at normal speeds because the configuration page printed normally. So the answer is D. Is my logic flawed?
@techvaultacademy
@techvaultacademy 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Your logic is flawed because printing a configuration page is not the same as printing a test page from the printer menu. A configuration page is a pre-defined document that contains information about the printer settings and status. It does not reflect the actual print speed of the printer when it receives a print job from a user’s PC or network. A test page, on the other hand, is a document that is generated by the printer itself to test its functionality and performance. It reflects the actual print speed of the printer when it prints a document from its own memory. Therefore, the technician should print a test page from the printer menu first to troubleshoot the print speed issue, not a configuration page. If the test page prints slowly, it means that the problem is with the printer itself, not with the user’s PC or network connection. The technician can then try other troubleshooting steps, such as checking the printer settings, performing maintenance, or replacing the imaging drum. If the test page prints normally, it means that the problem is not with the printer itself, but with the user’s PC or network connection. The technician can then try other troubleshooting steps, such as reinstalling the print drivers or connecting the printer to the network via Ethernet instead of WiFi. I hope this clarifies the question and the answer for you. If you have any more questions or feedback, please let me know. I appreciate your support and interest in my channel. 😊

@techvaultacademy
@techvaultacademy 11 ай бұрын
Hi Shann, you’re right that the CompTIA A+ Core 1 (220-1101) exam primarily focuses on hardware, networking, mobile devices, virtualization, and cloud computing. However, it also includes understanding networking basics and applying basic cybersecurity methods to mitigate threats. This encompasses knowledge about different types of malware, such as rootkits, Trojans, worms, and grayware. IT professionals often need to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to security threats, including malware infections. Therefore, a basic understanding of security concepts, including malware, is required for the exam. The question about malware types is relevant as it helps test takers demonstrate their understanding of different malware types and how they operate, which is a key aspect of IT support and cybersecurity. I hope this clarifies your doubt! 😊

@@techvaultacademy Hi there. If you are using multiple hard drives together as a single volume, that means it is essentially one pooled hard drive. If they wanted fault tolerance, they wouldn't use them as single volume but mirror them. The fact that they didn't do that would suggest that they are not bothered by fault tolerance. The question also doesn't make any mention of fault tolerance and only states server performance. You are making an assumption that the company wants fault tolerance. So I would agree the answer is most likely RAID 0.
