I am just getting into computers (at 63 years of age) hoping to transition to a career in computers. I have seen three of your videos so far in your COMPTIA A+ Course for Beginners and find them very informative with excellent explanations for someone like myself who does not have a computer background. I feel I have a lot to learn, but with time hope to have enough knowledge to be an IT Tech. Thanks for all the hard work you put into the coursework as well as the insight provided from some of your practical real-life IT work experiences that you share with your viewers! Respectfully, John R.

How's it going? I've been in my field for over 25 years and am 47 years old. I have a master's in social work, and am just now going back for IT/Cyber. I'm really scared about starting over, but I've got young children I need to provide for myself and I've topped out salary-wise in the social work field. You're an inspiration to take this on later. I've been very intimidated. So far I'm getting all A's on my assignments and projects in my very first college course (prepares for the CompTIA). Finals are this week🫣

"Quesiton the Obvious -Beign detailed and systematic requires your willingness to not overlook the obvious; at times the most COMPLEX issue can be cause by an unchecked VLAN tag box.....FFFFFSSSSSSSSSS." my favorite note so far.. and true in every industry I have worked in. Once, then engine on a Volvo day cab truck would not turn over, we towed it into the shop, and after plugging in the computer and checking the codes we found the Coolant Temp Sensor was Out of limits, so it shorted internally causing the unit to read way to high of temperature and go into shut down. All that on a unit with 20000km on it. I have always enjoyed the depth of diagnostics.

How much will it cost to take the full exam in cape town
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech Жыл бұрын
Well if your writing in Cape Town and paying in Rands, it's about roughly R1600 - R1800 per exam and there are two exams so it's about roughly R3200 - R3400 to write both exams. The prices do differ slightly from place to place though so I'd recommend shopping around a bit

Hello. Very sorry to bother you. Ive been watching your videos for the past several days now, taking notes, and trying to study for an upcoming A+ exam. You had mentioned in this video that you worked for an IT company and I was just wondering what you did to get your foot in the door? I am a recent college graduate (May 2024) and I currently hold a masters degree in cybersecurity & digital forensics, and I am severely struggling to get my foot in the door. Even at an entry level position making $20-25 per hour seems to be a struggle as those positions require some sort of experience (typically 2-4 years) but how am I supposed to gain that experience if someone wont let me get my foot in the door to show them I am competent? Any advice? Really really struggling here. Thanks so so much!
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech 2 ай бұрын
First of all, please keep in mind what I'm about to say will vary from country to country and even sometimes from city to city and so on... Finding and getting a job is a problem in most countries at the moment. Once someone gets a certification/qualification or even multiple ones, they usually still struggle their butt off to get a job in most cases. It's a classic case of, the potential employers usually want you to have "experience" but at the same time you can't get this experience they want if nobody actually hires you in the first place. It's a crazy catch 22. Some people "eventually" get lucky and find a job, even if it's just a small basic one. This helps them to start gaining this "experience" that employers want. Then in other cases, people will become interns or do a learnership of some kind at a company to gain experience. There are many cases where people will go work for "free" even at companies in exchange for a reference, something they can put on their resume/cv. How I got out of this crazy loop was, I went from company to company and offered to work for them for completely free, I just wanted a reference and the experience. Not everyone is in a position to do this though because if you don't have someone that can temporarily support you during that period, this part might be next to impossible. What usually happens when you work free is, often a position will eventually open and it's usually easier for that company to hire YOU then, the person that is already there and that already knows how they do things in their specific company, versus higher someone new from outside that has to first learn how they like things done

@@BurningIceTech I have a feeling you're from either Australia or South Africa, either way, two places no where near my home (NYC). Here in the city there are tons of opportunities, but the competition makes things close to impossible here. Even for an internship or doing volunteer work, there's still a process you have to go through before getting accepted, or in most cases moving on to the next step of the interview process. I can't even tell you the countless number of jobs I've applied to working for the state or government where they've filled in all these positions without even bringing me in for so much as an interview. Like....how are you going to choose your candidate without at least going through all the people who applied and who are remotely qualified.....insane. Look, if you have any connections where you are, I'll even move countries, I dont care lol.

I was wondering if your old A+ course is still relevant when compared to the one you're currently making?
@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech 2 жыл бұрын
Yes the old one is still relevant. You can actually use the old one and pass the exams even. About 90-95% of the content is the same. CompTIA mostly just went and reshuffled the content into a new order. The new A+ now has 20 modules where old one had 18 modules but that does not mean it's more content. It seems they just stretched the same content out over more modules. Here and there I've seen them remove and add bits and pieces of stuff but it's minimal. All in all you can still use my old videos if you want. I'm making videos for the new A+ because A LOT of people asked for it but in reality they can actually just refer to my old completed series and they'll be just fine :)

I once's damaged a computer, I was updating the system and the update was taking forever long and i thought it would finish installing, so i could turn it off before loadingsheding, but i was wrong then the next morning, when I turned on the computer, it would load in UEFI and when i tried to reboot the system and it would continuously tell me "no boot device found" I tried everything to get it up and running, but it didn't work so we had to get a new device. An expensive lesson learnt.

@BurningIceTech
@BurningIceTech Жыл бұрын
Howdy, the exam objects stated by CompTIA are a bit all over the place I have noticed but in the end of the day they do all still get covered in the course The order in which things get covered in this video course I'm doing is the official order in which the 1100 course gets delivered which is CompTIA's order, not mine hehe. You'll notice if you go check the previous 1000 course I did on the channel, a lot of the same content gets covered but in a whole different order. That's all CompTIA doing that, not me haha. When they released 1100 they moved a lot of stuff around. There is stuff that used to be in Core 1 in the 1000 series which is now in Core 2 in the new 1100 series. Also visa versa with the old Core 2 and the new Core 1. Anyhoo, thank you for compliment and support. Appreciate you and your feedback, it's awesome :)
