Primo Pete was Turtle's right hand man. Compton was about 90 percent black in his era. He had to stand on business to survive as a Latino in those days

Not to take anything from Pete but he was turtles lil homie, that’s it He also wasn’t the first Mexican rip in Compton either, he was like the 3rd Mexican to get put onto Santana let alone CC Mexican Rab & JuJu were the first Mexicans frontlining for Santana Blocc years before Pete Pete was 10-13 years younger then his g homies

This is why I never understood why people make such a big deal about "Black" and "Brown" in Cali hoods. It's ALWAYS been this way. I'm from Brooklyn nYc and first went to south central in 1993. The first NH40 crips I ever known in my life were 2 mexicans. I don't remember their hood names, but the gov was Jessie & Mike. They were brothers. They taught me everything on how to move and what to look for and put me on to the turf. But people make it seem as if its some type of alien concept. There's a ton of Mexican bloods & crips.
@MrSFblack

It's a lot less common now than it was back in the 80s. I've been to LA many times, rarely have I come across a blood or a crip who wasn't Black, Asian, or Polynesian.

On the street level the gangs don't discriminate. Its just another recruit for the set and strength in numbers. When it gets complicated is when that gang member goes to a cali prison must align by ethnicity.

So much unnecessary confusion. In LA it’s rare for there to be Blacks in Mexican gangs and vice versa. It’s the most common it’s ever been now, but still rare. For many reasons. You would have to understand Mexico and LA to really get it. It’s not that hard though. In NY there’s a lot of diverse people crammed into blocks, and many NY Latinos come from countries with many Blacks. LA is spread out, with old historically divided neighborhoods of mostly Blacks and Mexicans in the poor hoods. There’s also a lot of racism, division, and lack of understanding. Plus, one of the biggest points of Mexican gang culture is belonging to a historically Mexican gang. It’s literally a big part of LA Mexican culture.
