This sort of thing is terrifying, old people are the ones who are very likely to fall for something like this. Email providers need to ramp up their security detection to make sure phishing emails don’t go into the users main inbox. I’ve gotten a few gone into my main inbox which is quite scary.

The things you need to do with these well written phishing emails: 1.) Does the thing the email is telling me to do make sense? Downloading a fricking Excel file to reactive your account... does not make sense, if you needed help there. 2.) Write to the company in question, their tech/customer support, and ASK THEM if they sent the email in question, or ask about the issue at hand. Or call them on the phone. Whatever; contact them. I've been messing around with code related ChatGPT queries a fair bit in the last couple days. While I agree this made it easier to generate code for someone who has no idea what they are doing, it largely has the same limitations that a query on stack overflow has. You need to know exactly what you should be asking for and you likely are going to have to cobble together concepts to get a working program. I'm certain I could just search "Searching for and deleting files in python" and I'd find a huge amount of resources on it, because it has valid uses. Furthermore, ChatGPT has given me some outright wrong code and delivers it with confidence, it gets more likely the more you combine, naturally. So all in all, yeah, its easier for people with limited programming knowledge to spit out code, but really not much *new* malware will be made. As an interesting side note, you can have it reimplement code in other languages. That allows for someone to repurpose existing code (including malware) in one context into another.

I'm from the art community where people scraping websites for people's artworks that can later be fed into AI image generators is a giant issue. There are already people creating all sorts of watermarks and metadata battle this, also there's already a quite good program for detecting if an image is AI generated or not. Some art platforms both old and new want to keep AI images off the sites and also want to make it possible to prevent people from stealing our images from the sites... it's absolute insanity nowadays. A few years and artificial general intelligence hackers will be fighting each other... WHAT CAN EVEN GO WRONG HERE??? :D

@@misterliligant5772 Right now it's pretty much impossible. If you can open something in a browser, you can scrape it. But there are people working on stuff. Years back, working for an, MSP, and Microsoft added the text to speech engine as a Powershell module. So I jokingly put together a script that'd say things like "I miss you when you walk away", or "I love the way you touch my keys like that". But I sent it to all my colleagues like *yo here's a script that will help with active directory". It was amazingly obvious how many people just ran than script and didn't review it. It was a joke.(and a fairly innocuous one) but it was disappointing how many of the group just ran that script without bothering to actually read or understand it at all. Don't run code on your system if you haven't read and understood it... Could be a funny fucker like me messing with ya, or it could be something FAR more sinister.

machine learning can be used to filter out e-mails against phishing in general, doesn't matter if it's written by Chat-GPT or a person. Recognizing patterns, checking for domain name spoofing, with high confidence and perfect accuracy, not just heuristic analysis. Throw up a warning for the user, lock the contents of the e-mail behind a giant red page, move them to trash immediately and highlight with red, preface with "(MALICIOUS)" or "(FRAUDULENT)". AI designed to spot scam and phishing attempts will be better at it than humans users.

How specific do you have to be with your prompts, how often do bots make mistakes a user would have to know code to catch, and how often do bots come up with plausible exploits that haven't already been patched? In short: is this actually easier than just getting on the internet and finding malicious scripts that someone else has already written for you?

@7:00 You really don't need AI or machine learning to get an aimbot working that responds to what happens on screen though. Those things have existed since literally the early 90s, before machine learning was really a thing. The most undetectable aimbots have always worked with local game data only, which is untraceable. It's why in plenty of games they do a check whether there was enough time to spot an opponent making the kill legit, not to mention what the line of sight looked like. Plenty of games also still synchronise player coordinates locally, which means somewhere in memory those locations are floating around in memory, available for any hacking tool to track. Even _worse_ , modern games with all the aim-assists and stuff have such information waaaaaay more readily available, making building an aimbot child's play. I don't condone using aimbots, but you can generally tell what an aimbot is doing when 1. it is tracking enemies even when it is behind walls (it must have direct access to player coordinates for that) or 2. instantly locks on to an enemy the moment it is within line of sight (more modern version of player tracking, might be based on on-screen information) or 3. you get killed through walls by completely no-clipping 'god' hackers (they are tampering with game data, changing the rules on the fly, for the hacking player). Keep in mind that for tracking on-screen data, a lot of hacks turn enemy player models into bright red skins, easily detectable through visual analysis without the need of an AI whatsoever. Most of that aimbot stuff has always relied on local data only, meaning it's pretty hard to detect. Nothing about this has changed the last two decades.
