I agree 100%, but I think it’s not just that they’re ’regular people,’ and not celebrities; it’s also that these people see Conan day in and day out and know him, and that kind of rapport and chemistry comes largely from… you know, intimacy and knowledge and reps. Conan made an awkward and negative situation a positive and understanding situation, also the fact that Conan made everybody confortable with the idea that they can speak up if they have a request, suggestion or a need. I am a programmer and normally use two monitors. That day I had my two monitors plus two TVs, one of each game. The last games of the first round played simultaneously to avoid players to know other scores, thats why is so exciting to watch them, until last minute you know if your team advance or not.

Im from Finland. Only time we managed to get into BIG tournament, we scored 1 goool. And it was the match, where opponents MVP died for 2-3min, due to heart attack. In front of homecrowd & family. Thank god he survived

Actually even with Saudi Arabia scoring, Mexico still only needed another goal to advance. If the game had ended 3-1, Mexico would have tied Poland in goal difference but surpassed them in goals in favor which is the next tie-breaking criterion. :'(

This is the weirdest way I got to remember that Mexico game. Right when the audio engineer was caught, i was down here in Mexico hoping that they'd score another goal after the one Chavez scored from a free kick. We were really close to advance, and even when France would've gotten our asses handed to us, it still would've been cool to see. Edit: Wow they got to the point where Saudi Arabia scored right at the end.

Okay, yes this is funny, but man sports is awesome. As soon as Eduardo explains the situation, everyone else is like "oooh, can we watch too?" It reminds me of about a dozen years ago, I was working a job with a lot of free time to watch TV, and the Isner-Mahut marathon match at Wimbledon was on. People who had no idea about tennis or anything stopped and watched, because it was compelling sports. There's nothing like it.
