I'm no expert in practical building, but hopefully this build would be somewhat purge resistant 😂 Maybe with some palisades on the walls to, it could be improved further

I really love the chaoticly organized buildings. There is something realistic and natural about them unlike the buildings that clearly looks so flawless it’s impossible to feel immersed using them. You did a wonderful work with this one and though I share the same opinion with you concerning the flotsam textures, you still managed to make it work. Keep it up mate!

I like builds that incorporate features of the landscape like you did with the cliff wall in this build. Many players have trouble figuring out how to build ceilings or roofs on top of large pieces like the animal pen, the greater wheel of pain, the map room, the large well and a shrine. It would be instructive if you built a base spanning vertically up a cliff, showing how to incorporate all these large pieces at multiple levels, with the lowest level of the base giving access to the land at the base of the cliff and the highest level giving access to the plateau at the top of the cliff.

Glad you liked it! The vertical cliff base does sound like it'd be difficult, but very practical. I'll give it some practice and work out the best way to do it :)

Lovely build, as always. You captured the haphazard feel of the flotsam set. Flotsam does take some getting used to. It's appearance is very specific and hard to get to flow outside of it's niche. The ceilings would be more utile, except for the beams that protrude out most walls. At least the ceiling foundations can be turned to be nice or sorts messy, so there's some utility there. The roofs are very fun, we've been missing a circus tent style drapery for a long time. The railed stairs, however, are very nice and could fit either a scavenged or elegant build. It always irritated me that the stable fence (pillars) was not load bearing and that the wooden support strut both could not be placed like a pillar (despite it's description) and blocked fence building below it.

Glad you liked it! Some of the flotsam pieces are definitely more flexible than others, and the roofs are great for markets, shacks and plenty of other things. It does end up looking really nice when used properly, but its overall far less flexible than something like Arena or Stormglass

@@Eradicati0nn Arena is especially nice as a neutral foundation layer or fortification wall paired with a more elaborate build set like Stormglass. I think Stormglass, Turanian and some of the other more elaborately decorated build sets often need some toning down by adding Arena to the mix. Flotsam works well in a role play situation where your character has built an impromptu hovel in some ruins. It also works well in a build with a nautical theme and in a tree house build. The stairs and pillars are a bit more versatile and can be used to add a rustic touch to any build where it's appropriate. The fences are a bit more lightweight than most and might be useful where you want a bit less visual of a barrier. Like you say, the roof and awning pieces make nice tent-like structures suitable for markets, etc. I think Stable pieces might go well with Flotsam.

I initially thought of doing the exterior wall with Flotsam, but Flotsam has that quality where it seems like less is more, having the build entirely made out of flotsam would have blended everything together a bit too much. Plus, from a PvE standpoint, I thought having T2 materials on the exterior and T1 on the interior made a bit more sense for overall defence. Glad you liked it though!

Flotsam would be great for a pirate build. I do already have a few pirate-like character on the Colonizing Conan server, so I could flesh one of them out with their own build & backstory :)

People who make these builds are great and all, but the one thing that really bothers me about all of them is the fact that all of it's sped up. It's really hard to follow unless I slow it down a lot, and there's no dimensions on screen or something.

Unfortunately its really hard to communicate a build in a practical way without speeding it up, otherwise each video would easily be over 45 minutes long. You'll find on some of the newer videos, including tomorrow's video, that I've included blueprints with exact dimensions though, so that should help!
