Especially nowadays with popculture, you can see other example, such as 'flex'' which dictionary meaning is completely different compared to how we use it on day to day basis (form of boasting/bragging). Also, checking my background which is Indonesian, with grim history of colonialism, subtly call me/accuse me as trying to have a slave (as you said at your first comment) is just utter ridiculous, context matter eh?

Those stickers are definitely supposed to be for when you are driving internationally. It gives people a heads up you might not be familiar with certain kinds of road layout, and they allow other drivers to easily judge your entire nation by your driving. Conan has probably caused all kinds of diplomatic incidents with that FIN sticker. People will assume Tarja Halonen was who they saw behind the wheel, charging bison in Roosevelt NP.
@EmpyreanLightASMR Жыл бұрын
That means I have to be familiar with every country's style of driving so if I see an FIN on the back of a car, I can safely assume he'll drive like a Fin, and not like the insane drivers from California, so instead of preempting a tailgating speed demon, I have to assume he'll use his left blinker to pass and keep it blinking while passing, because that's what they do in Europe.

When it comes to Finland, two words matter most: sisu and SAUNA. They are the sauna capital of the world. And sisu, well, it means (as described to me by a waitress in Helsinki) balls. As in, Finns have it and you don’t. Fierce attitude of survival and resistance in the face of overwhelming odds. And by odds I mean the brutal Finnish winter and Russia. And when it comes to Russia, the Finnish winter transforms into a key ally. Sisu is one of the best descriptive terms for humans. Finns self-identify as being born with sisu. 🇫🇮

(pick-up vs. "pee-cup") Finns have difficulty hearing the difference between English short i (fill) and long i (feel), because that distinction is non-existent in Finnish, as for example in Italian. The Finnish short i is like a shortened English long i, if that makes any sense. BTW, he's got a mild 'ärrä-vika' ("faulty" r-sound: LappeenRRRanta). I'd say, in a way its trill is too pronounced even for Finnish, closer to the typical French uvular r-sound.
