Yes, there is cremation in Ghana. My dad was cremated in 2001 & mom was cremated in 2020. There is a cremation society in Ghana. In fact, my grandfather was the first Ghanaian to be cremated. Originally done by the Indians in Ghana but there is an electric crematorium in Accra now.

We preserve corpse at the mortuary (mog) and mostly they call it a fridge which is not appropriate

In Kenya its mostly the upper class / political leaders that are open to cremation but its not very common in wider society.
@razzyblings44077 ай бұрын
Yeah, it is, but it solely depends on the wish of the person or the family he/she is from. It's the same as the person not wanting to be taken to the morgue and that wish will be respected, cos they mostly have consequences if their wishes are not adhered to

1:45 Very important question by sierra. In nigeria The families normally do not agree to a cremation unless there was some kind of deadly disease involved for the deceased. It is seen as some sort of desecration The family has to agree to the cremation and normally they do not. I'm not sure about ghana but probably most african countries don't go for cremation.

In Ghana the longest person in refrigerator of dead person is four years

In Ghana, we do not cremate. Almost all dead persons are buried. Some tribes might cremate certain people because they didn't live a good life while alive. So the cremation is like a punishment for the dead person. But on the other hand, there are cremation centers for people who might want to cremate, especially foreigners.

Am Ugandan and in my tribe we don't cremate, if a family is poor then they will bury in a cloth and just dig a hole for you.

Climate?? Pls don't ever mentioned that in any African meetings, the elders will sweat for you.. it's a big taboo. It's never an African thing to burn the dead body of our loved ones. We respect the dead, God forbid.

it's done in Ghana for families who want it. I'm sure aome other African countries so too. Where do you come from?
