Conan the Barbarian is a 1982 American fantasy adventure film directed and co-written by John Milius. It is based on stories by Robert E. The film's success led to the 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer.

I love the Suotai isn't some throw-away sidekick, but an integral part of the story. One of my favourite scenes is when he comes to save Conan after he's been crucified and they reprise the song, 'Theology / Civilisation'. His not being in Conan the Destroyer (instead replaced by one of the most irritating characters in cinema history) ruined that film for me in the first minute.

No matter if one likes the movie in general or the plot or whatever (I personally think all of that is great). But nobody can deny that Arnold was THE BEST fitting actor EVER in a movie when playing Conan. It seems so absolutely real and...well, "credible". They way he looks, moves, the swordplay....it simply is how everybody imagines a "Barbarian" in such a world. Amazing piece of acting, IMO.

Arnie was a more better Conan than the remade which needed make-up lol . Conan 1&2 are excellent movies and instant classics . Normaly there was a Conan 3 movie too but it has another title "Red Sonja" in some other countries they call it Kalidor , the talisman legend ( french Kalidor La Légende du Talisman ) . The effects were excellent everything was believeable not as nowadays CGI-fake-ish effects . Also i don't know why some people hate on Conan 2 it was a nice movie with great moments .

Buster Keaton The character of Conan couldn't be used for copyright issues during filming of Kalidor . Usualy the character Kalidor should be Conan that's why the role from Arnold Schwarzenegger is secondary in the movie and the lead role was Brigitte Nielsen as Red Sonja . Anyway it was easily seen back then that all three movies were all connected together . As normaly Arnie needed to make a couple more Conan movie but he declined it because since the flop from Conan , The Destroyer & Kalidor , the Legend of the Talisman he didn't to continue that franchise . They also are planning to make a direct sequel to Conan , the Barbarian with Arnie taking the role back nowadays but the events happens 30 years later .
