While appearing on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on November 15, 2006,[5] Gass claimed to have been the youngest graduate of the Juilliard School of Music with a degree in classical guitar studies at the age of 13. Juilliard did not have a guitar program in 1973, but began its graduate level guitar program in 1989 under Sharon Isbin, and its undergraduate program in 2007. Earlier, in an article in the Sunday Times on October 29, 2006, Black stated that Gass was the youngest graduate of Juilliard.[6] On May 13, 2008, Gass was a phone-in guest on the Adam Carolla Show. When Adam Carolla asked him "... And did you go to Juilliard?" Kyle replied "I didn't. I-you know, I made that up as a joke," he continued, "and I thought it would be hilarious, and then I've been hearing about it ever since. Apologies to Juilliard." -Copied from Wiki-

To be honest neither really made that much money from TD, they made a living. Jack is pretty rich, but it's almost all from the movies he's starred in.
@zaynes5094 Жыл бұрын
@@AveSicarius I don't agree with this, but that's just my thoughts on it.
@JDeanMurray Жыл бұрын
@@AveSicarius how would you have any clue on how much money they made in TD? Oh wait, you read it somewhere.
@AveSicarius Жыл бұрын
@@JDeanMurray You can easily deduce they didn't make that much money by how niche TD has historically been, the fact that they had cult classic, but not exactly super financially successful media spinoffs, and they've never been up there in record sales or seen the production, exposure or As it was Tenacious D only really started to see more widescale marketing years down line around their movie release, which flopped and left them in a position of again playing to a niche musical crowd. Kyle would be far wealthier than he seems if even a portion of JBs wealth came from TD, he clearly doesn't care that much about it (seems like his thing was always the fact that everyone knew jables and kind of looked him over if the TD documentary from the lead up to the film release is anything to go by). Honestly in recent years it almost seems like it's JBs film career that's funding TD and allowing them to do things that otherwise wouldn't turn much of a profit for fun. I love Tenacious D, but they've never had mainstream appeal, and Jack clearly made the his money in the film, not music, industry. You can also see this by the fact that they only really started getting big interviews after JB broke out in Hollywood, meanwhile even moderately successful band's see constant interview opportunities. I don't even understand why you'd take this negatively, it isn't some kind of insult, it's just pointing out some observations.
@AveSicarius Жыл бұрын
@@zaynes5094 I mean Kyle doesn't seem that well off compared to musician's who've been financially successful in the industry, and JB is incredibly wealthy, but that's entirely because he broke out in the movie scene (which also got TD way more attention as well). Tenacious D is a niche musical experience no matter how much we love them, and while they are a bonafide cult classic loved by many, being niche isn't exactly profitable in today's world.

Have you never seen the POD tour behind the scenes where they go on a talkshow (was it Jay Leno, I don't remember) only to find out they just wanted Jack, even though they were promoting their movie. Kage was pissed (this is where the rage kage comes from) for obvious reasons, and Jack, who was also pissed, had to both talk to the TV executives and calm Kage down. Kage has talked about it a few times, and seems to be pretty at peace with it now. JB is the face, even though they are both part of the band, and because if his movie career he has more starpower. Even then, I leave the non-famous family members to their privacy. . So I don't elevate Jack's family if they prefer to stay behind the scenes. Leave them their privacy. . It's a good rule to follow when you know/meet/deal with famous people, esp their kids. If they are present, I don't ignore them, just be polite, but don't harass them as if they know everything going on. . Also, if you randomly run into them, just wave and nod, do NOT draw attention to them when they are not "on the clock". IF they are at a staged event/con/etc, then their booth/table/etc is where you can fangirl. IF you see them anywhere else at the event/con/etc, leave them to their downtime/privacy. . Trust me, that idea works. I've dealt with local "famous" (hauled him across several states to and shared a hotel room at a con, one year. After saving his overgrown son's only clothing the previous year when they left early. Sasquatch still owes me dinner for that!). Also, a couple global level "famous" people.
