John Daly is a national treasure. You might agree or disagree with him, but he won't BS you. In the early 90's, the "grip it and rip it" was his thing, he was the first player to hit a 630-yard hole in two shots. But besides his ability to absolutely crush it, he was very savvy with his short game, especially his short wedges. He just lines up and hits it, no big thought, one of the most natural swing players ever. I believe Tiger when he said Daly is one of the most naturally talented players he's ever seen. Tiger had to work for it. If Daly put that level of work in, he might have won as much as Tiger did.

John talks about the days where he tried to get Tiger to sit down and have a drink with the guys and Tiger, for several days, would say "Thanks John but I need to go workout" or "Sorry John, I need to go hit some balls"... Finally John really got on him and said "Come on Tiger, relax a bit and have a drink with us". Tiger just responded with "John, if I had your talent, I'd be sitting there drinking with you"... Talk about a fucking compliment from one of the greatest players ever.
