@@grostig OC stands for the active ingredient (oleocapisicun) in pepper mace. Mace is an overall term, & can be OC, CS, CN, or a combination. My personal opinion is OC is far superior if used correctly (right distance, not into the wind, aimed at offenders eyes especially).

I have personally dissuaded and possibly saved myself (and two co-workers) from a potential attack with a 500 lumen flashlight. We were closing the bar one night. 3 of us waking out the back door. I was the only one armed, and I had my flashlight clipped on my back pocket. I had situational awareness, and I noticed two shady characters hanging out by the dumpsters, at 3am. When everyone had left hours before. No car in sight. I beamed them from across the lot and said “what’s up fellas.” They both dumped their cigs and scurried off. That’s all It took. Situational awareness and a flashlight.

Great common sense. Knife and flashlight(s) a must (carry) Retired Chicago Copper. I always carried (still do) 2 small (double AA) flashlights. 1 in each L/R front low cargo pocket. 2 reasons: I always worked w/guys who’d never carry a damn light when working days. And sometimes you can’t easily reach into the one pocket.

"It's very personal." My words exactly when people want me to tell them how to carry and which holster to use. I will always give them tips and suggestions based on my experiences but I will also tell them the final decision is completely theirs. They have to be the ones to determine what works for their needs, what is comfortable for them and does it fit their physical abilities. To give them a clear picture of what it might take before they find that perfect holster and carry position for their daily needs, I have told my customers that I have dozens of holsters at home that I used a few times or even once and found out it wasn't what I wanted. Trying them on in the store is one thing. Wearing it 10 hours a day is something else. Carrying is fluid. Daily life changes. Our needs change. Most likely so will your holster and carry style.

Just hearing Pat say “it’s not just going to GO OFF” then laugh really helped me get over my trepidation of carrying in the appendix position with a loaded chamber. I’ve been carrying with a loaded chamber for quite a while now at the 8 o’clock position (yep, I’m left handed) with no fear of my gun “just going off”. I have a good Vedder holster for appendix carry but just couldn’t get past the mental block of where my muzzle was pointing. I like to carry more centerline. I know that the trigger guard is completely covered. I practiced a LOT of draws in the front position and have gotten my trigger finger discipline down really good. I know that the likelihood of the striker releasing from the sear on it’s own is virtually impossible. I know my gun has a striker block that will not disengage unless the trigger is pulled almost all the way back. But it was just that mental block! Finally I realized after carrying strong side for so long and my gun has never discharged on it’s own. And hearing someone like Pat with all of his knowledge and experience say that gave me the boost I needed. I do like and have gotten pretty good with my strong side draws, but wanted another option. I really like the comfort, conceal-ability and quickness of appendix carry. Now I carry centerline almost exclusively now. Thanks Pat Mac!!

My preference, but I like to ensure a means of carrying a spare magazine. I too prefer the Glock 19 and yes, 15 rounds would get me out of just about anything, but 1) I have grown accustomed to having 31 rounds and 2) there are a number of mishaps that can result from a faulty or malfunctioning magazine, so having the spare can fix it right away.

I was just staring at the price though man. Can I ask how many pairs you've had to get and how often they get destroyed?
@michaelgee7509
@michaelgee7509 2 жыл бұрын
@@dillydoor I currently have 6 pairs. One of them is a few years old and still going strong. They faded from the original dark blue after hundreds of washes, and now feel a little lighter weight like they are a different color/weight of the same Jean. No rips, no tears, and I still wear them weekly. I thought the same about the price. Tried Vertx, as well and ran them side by side for a durability comfort check. By far the 5.11 are more comfortable. Once I had worn the single pair for two years and wore out all of my other non tactical jeans by carrying a gun every day; I replaced my entire wardrobe of jeans with this single model. Regular “fashion” jeans won’t hold up to carrying knives, guns, lights, and hard use. So I think I have been wearing these jeans for a total of 4 years now. First two (testing phase) and then switched to wearing only these two years ago. Meaning my oldest pair is 4 years old and still in the rotation. These jeans are worth the money, and are wife approved. I wear them in the office at a tech company (not a lot of tactical people there) and no one can tell they are tactical jeans. Hope that helps.

I'm 51, a US Army veteran 🎗, ccw license holder, G-armed security. I carry pistols with NO ambi safety levers starting about 2yr ago, 2020 era. There are a few guns like a 1911 where I'd want a ambi safety but most uses can get by fine with DA only or striker type systems. I feel secure. I often use level ll TS7 Safariland holsters too.

amazon has a great belt for those who wear a suit to work of sports coat out. Its called Chaoren adjustable belt, it's super sturdy and no issues or wear and tear problem and I carry all the time.

Thks, Senor Mac for us 'inside the waistband' carriers residing in outlaw states...(cough, California)...also, smart observation about rigid versus stretch denim...and, Senor Mac have you been practicing your 'pas de deux' to Saint-Saens 'Danse Macabre'...?

After you pulled out the AR mag I was almost half expecting you to conjure up an AR from some nifty back holster or something. :D
