CONCEALER BEFORE OR AFTER FOUNDATION? | NINA UBHI

Should you apply concealer before or after foundation? In this video I'll show you why I apply concealer BEFORE foundation! I'll show you one side of my face with concealer before foundation and the other side with concealer after foundation. I'll be using the same concealer and foundation on both sides to make it fair.
In this video I'll show you how to apply concealer before and after foundation on both sides of my face and also break it down for you in an easy step by step application method. I will talk through the benefits of both sides so you can choose which you prefer for yourself. I'll also test both sides by going out to see how each side holds up by the evening!

Exactly!!!!! I’ve always put concealer on 1st, (the point is to “hide” blemishes & dark circles, or whatever) -then follow up with the foundation. It’s been done like that for years! (But of course, someone always tries to change the norm. Do you. However you want to do it) I’ll continue to do it the CORRECT WAY. ✌🏼💋

I’ve heard many people say you should put concealer on top of foundation (even some MUA I talk to also say the same thing), but I’ve always thought that it makes more sense to conceal FIRST and then put on the layers you want to do because that’s what concealers do - they conceal! How am i gonna do concealer first when i aply my foundation with a foundation brush? Do i just go over the concealer? And my other question.. I always like to do differant styles of eye shadow and i used to make the lines on the side sharp with my concealer. I loved this video! It is very helpful. I have always, always put concealer under foundation. The concealer is for concealing, in my opinion, it’s not meant to be seen, hence the name, it’s meant to conceal (hide) any flaws in the skin “before” you lay on your foundation. Covering foundation with a concealer doesn’t make any sense to me. To me the names of the products tell you exactly what they are for. Yes, foundation goes on first if you have perfect skin ( but no one does) and don’t need to hide anything first. But if you do need to hide “aka” “conceal” flaws, then you apply concealer over them first, then you apply foundation over that. Why would you want to “conceal” your foundation? The concealer is made to cover up, the foundation is meant to give you that beautiful blend of natural dewy color. Thank you for the great tutorial! I love your contouring techniques too!

I can definitely tell a difference and can see the brightness under your eyes (concealer on first) opposed to the other side. It is hard to tell a difference between the 2, but if you look close you can tell the side with the concealer first does look more flawless than the other.

The biggest difference I see is when you put concealer on first your eyes look brighter and your bronzer makes your face look more cut/defined. I am still learning about foundations and base makeup. I have discoloration from hormones during pregnancies and not wearing SPF religiously during my teens and 20s. All advice is helpful and appreciated. But, I agree with your technique of concealer 1st. I am going to start trying that. Especially at work where I run around and sweat all day, lol.

I agree with you. The side you did the way you normally do looked so much better. Around your eyes looked more bright than the other side. The other side, by the end of the day the darkness under your eye was nore noticeable. Hi Nina I have never applied foundation under the eyes, only concealer as I always felt it might be too much. However, I do apply concealer prior to applying foundation on the face. I often see many girls with so much concealer/foundation under their eyes and extremely lighter shades and looks awful in pictures. Your side of the setting looks amazing, so thank you for this. ♥️

Nina I too have always put the concealer on first….. I could totally see the difference in your beautiful face. The first side you did shows a little darkness under your eyes and your cheek looks patchy and the make up looks like it is greasy or not bonding flawlessly … whereas the other preferred side is bright flawless and no greasing. So in other words there is a difference and I am happy you did this video to show people.

I am shocked that anyone would put concealer on top of foundation. I have never heard of doing it that way. Your method is logical. That's how I've always done it because it just makes more sense. And I could easily see the difference in the two sides. The one with the concealer on top looked darker under your eye and your way looked much brighter and more seamless.

I alwayz do my concealer 1st. I have dark circles under my eyes so I cover up those first. I don't wear foundation at all anymore. I use concealer the same color as my skin tone under my eye and just brighten that area. To me it looks way better than bright spots directly under your eye. A waaay more cohesive look.

Great to see this video. When I first learned about using foundation and concealer it was the norm to place concealer first then foundation. However the technique became reversed later. While I do feel like makeup is subjective. You know eye of the beholder and all, it’s really refreshing to see an MUA shedding light on this technique again.

Im60. I put my concealed on first. It really covers the dark under my eyes if I do that first. Then the foundation. It just makes it better coverage. I really enjoyed this video. When you were done with your face, I could instantly tell that the left side was brighter and the right side was darker where you placed the concealer. Even when you were out for a long time and came back, the left side was still lighter and fresh and the right side was still dark in the concealer area. I’ve been trying to find new ways to do my makeup and I noticed that the way you do your routine and the way I do my routine is similar, I just don’t add the foundation over my concealer, but I might have to try to see the difference because your technique is really great and leaves the makeup looking flawless.

Thank you so much for doing this video because there are so many people who have different opinions. But seeing you do it side by side was great Personally I can see the difference and I prefer the concealer first and then foundation. Concealer first made your under eye look brighter and it covered the dark circle completely were as doing concealer after foundation did not look as bright and you can still see a little bit of a shadow. I was so confused about which way was right. What I noticed is if I do concealer first it covers my dark circles better and I don’t see that gray shadow peaking thru after a couple of hours. And when I did foundation first then concealer I found that I had to use a lot more concealer to cover them up and then after a few hours it started to look cakey if that makes sense. From now on I will definitely be a concealer first girl. 💕💕💕great tutorial and you explained it perfectly.
