Your dedication to maintaining a clean environment is truly admirable. When you said your cleaner smelled like bleach, I wanted to share some information I came across in a Concept2 video - they kindly advised against using bleach on the seat or handle for proper maintenance. I hope this helps 👍

I am watching this video even though I have not bought my Concept II rower yet (I like to do pre purchase info gathering). I will certainly be ready for when I do have it in my house. And I am not surprised how filthy the machine will get as most machines of any sort need maintenance to be at their peak performance. Great vid!

I bought a 20 year old Concept 2 and found the chain would slip when rowing hard. Turned out it was just dust on the wheel, but as a newb I had to virtually take the thing apart to make sure it was fully clean. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Oh man! That's a hard lesson to learn, but good for you for doing the work to care for the machine. We're glad you're here watching, James!

@@DarkHorseRowingevery so often I have a stroke with no force - dangerous. I assumed the chain wasn't retracting but it seems that is not the case. When you talk about dust on the wheel, what wheel are you referring to. Thanks

Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this kzbin.infoUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

@@zacbrockway2938 Mine has always been in carpeted rooms that get vacuumed every 2 weeks or so (which actually puts some dust in the air), but when I took apart the fanwheel after 10 years, it was remarkably clean. So an occasional rail-wipe and light chain lube is fine for most people for many, many years.

@monkeyb18203 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbiggs3753 two things: 1) I don't think any data exists showing that any gyms have lead to significant illness (note that a pcr diagnosis of 'positive' does not mean a person is sick or even infectious) and 2) people in gyms are robust, healthy, exercising. There is nothing to fear (other than our out of control governments). Due to having kids and a need for convenience, I started doing outdoor/home workouts around 10 years ago. I have a rower, a bike, 2 suspension trainers, and just got a set of undersun bands. So I'm good to go. I definitely recommend a set of good looped bands (and cheap gloves) if you don't already have.

@DarkHorseRowing7 жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely need to worry about that! Make sure you apply enough water or cleaning solution on them too and push a rag or paper towel against them while you roll the seat applying light pressure on it. Make sure you clean all 4 wheels on top. In case you clean it after every use you won't get that black crud build up too much anymore.

Where can I buy Concept2 chain oil? I was looking almost everywhere!
@DarkHorseRowing7 жыл бұрын
I think it's just 3 in 1 oil? This is on their website: "Lubricate the chain with a teaspoon of purified mineral oil, 3-IN-ONE® oil, or 20W motor oil. Apply oil to a paper towel, and rub the paper towel along entire length of chain. Wipe off the excess. Repeat if needed. Do not clean the chain with any kind of cleaner or solvent, e.g. WD-40®."
@Zabijaka877 жыл бұрын
Thank You for response. Yes I know. Same is written in instruction that came with my C2 model D. Strangely there's no chain oil in their online store.
