Presto is owned by Metrolinx, tokens are owned by ttc. The province has already forced the ttc to accept presto. It is not economical for 2 types of fare systems to be maintained. Blame the government not the ttc.

They are using this to track you,maybe. They are not recycle. They are forcing you to purchase a commercial product "presto card". They are trying to get rid of conductors. They also wish to give exclusivity to shoppers. See the problem?

I still have subway tokens to use when I visit Toronto and them fair inspectors at the kiosk give me a hard time for still using them.

TTC penalizes customers with tokens of not paying at entrances whereas token machines are not made accessible until customers have to walk a set of door away in streetcars.

Just give everyone a Presto pass and end the presto tickets. By charging for a Presto card you create a deterrent for the casual rider by the extra cost. Having only one card to produce cuts down on costs. Also let people load a number of rides instead of dollar amounts.

Metropasses and tokens should have been used in this toll booth less roll out instead of presto...metropasses that could be reloaded online or at a TTC station self serve booth would have been more streamlined and economical

@@bighoss7437 1) They don't want to get rid of tokens. 2) Insisting that the family pass not go away. (Necessitating staffed entrances) So essentially a stubbornness not to get with the times. I complain about transit alot, but I at least give credit where credit is due. TTC Riders is not something I can be part of.

wl03bu if I recall, presto is more expensive to operate than the conventional system (that is without the full transition). Also, you can easily make a pass a group pass by allowing users to tap the “disposable day pass” up to 6 times at a station on days where they’re allowed to.
