Jacklyn O'Brien Do you do this as a job? That's an awesome job! You go to concerts for free and interpret? THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN AMAZING JOB!! I love all your videos! I'm only 14, but I KNOW ASL is what I'm meant to do in life :D. I would love to know how your job works! Do people going to the concert call you and ask you to show up like any interpreter, or do you ONLY do concerts so you show up at any concert around you? I can't wait to be able to do what you do! Have a great day!

I'm a freelance interpreter, so yes I do this as a job but I don't only do concerts. I also work in schools, hospitals, medical offices, just about everywhere! For most concerts or shows the Deaf clients will tell the venue they need interpreters then the venue contacts an agency. From there the agency sends out the job and the first to reply usually get it. Keep practicing your ASL, find a Deaf mentor, and look at colleges that offer a BA/BS in interpreting. Good luck! :)

@@jacklynobrien2915 your videos inspired me years ago. I’m now an ASL interpreter :) hope I get to work up to concerts like this, but I’m working as an Educational interpreter and VRS for now. About to start cruise interpreting!
