"That's The Way That The World Goes 'Round" I know a guy that's got a lot to lose. He's a pretty nice fellow but he's kind of confused. He's got muscles in his head that ain't never been used. Thinks he own half of this town. Starts drinking heavy, gets a big red nose. Beats his old lady with a rubber hose, Then he takes her out to dinner and buys her new clothes. That's the way that the world goes 'round. That's the way that the world goes 'round. You're up one day and the next you're down. It's half an inch of water and you think you're gonna drown. That's the way that the world goes 'round. I was sitting in the bathtub counting my toes, When the radiator broke, water all froze. I got stuck in the ice without my clothes, Naked as the eyes of a clown. I was crying ice cubes hoping I'd croak, When the sun come through the window, the ice all broke. I stood up and laughed thought it was a joke That's the way that the world goes 'round.

Okay John O'Donnell, what the heck happened at 21:00? Cut off Grandpa Was A Carpenter AND Hello In There!! Was there anything in between those? I mean, seeing John Prine still doin' it after the surgery and all, standing on his two feet and singing, enjoy seeing the video. John made his first record while I was in the Army stationed in Alaska and have listened to him every since. He is in a class of his own. You either love him or you don't. One of the many things I have not found myself in the right place to be to go see this unique individual do a show. Listening to this man is one of the reasons my spirit is as a shadow in the wind. Why did he say he had waffles in Shreveport,La. when he was in SanFrancisco,Ca.?
@yannickomani73822 жыл бұрын
Derek from Shreveport and I shared one thing until relatively recently - I never really paid attention to John Prine or his music (yeah - I loved Bonnie Raitt's version of "Angel of Montgomery" ...) during most of his career. Just about the same time that Derek was driving John and Fiona to the Waffle House I started watching his videos here on YT. But I never made it to one of John's shows. I'd give a LOT to switch places with Derek for that short evening's drive - and suspect that ol' Derek was better for the encounter (and likely became a fan - just as I did). I wish I'd come to appreciate his music sooner. But I'm blessed to be able to listen to his music whenever I want right now. What a time we live in ...

Gibson should be ashamed of themselves for those terrible pickups they install in those very expensive jumbo acoustics. I could tell when John put down the Martin and picked up that SJ200 - quack, quack, quack
@michaelfleming61038 жыл бұрын
John wouldn't have played it if he didn't want the sound with some of the songs. Might just be the reason he has more than one guitar.
@celticgodsoriginal8 жыл бұрын
***** Not sure if you play or not, but Gibsons are known to have less than the optimum built-in pickups which is one reason Jackson Browne specified a certain system in his "Artist Model".
@michaelfleming61038 жыл бұрын
Not arguing that. Somebody must like the sound or Gibson would not be in business and people would not buy the music that comes out of them by the artists that use them. John Prines words; Say you drive a Chevy, say you drive a Ford. If you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em! Are you selling as many records as this man that plays that Gibson?
@johnrowan72887 жыл бұрын
New Gibson Jumbo versus a 50 year old Martin D-28. No contest, pickup or no pickup.
@johnrowan72887 жыл бұрын
John only useses the different guitars because since his cancer he has to sing in a lower key and he can't be tuning up there all the time. The Gibson is a cool choice.
