@@isaacj.elliott2137 Yeah I've been telling my family and friends about him. I honestly think anybody can listen to his music and relate to him in one way or another. You got songs like "hello in there" that he wrote at such a young age that makes you realize the wisdom and foresight he had as young man. Most people at that age aint thinking about the older people and what some of them go through in the later years in life.
@dannoplane2 жыл бұрын
Same here, I only ever knew him as "the guy that wrote Angel from Montgomery", which I always loved...but it's been surpassed in my estimation by so, so many of his other songs. Where to start, when you have "Far From Me," "Christmas in Prison," "Donald & Lydia," "Mexican Home," etc., etc., etc. What an absolute gem of a songwriter, singer, and human being. If there was one hand I wish I could shake, and tell it's owner "Thank you for your gifts to us all", it's John Prine's. Lovely, lovely man. Rest in peace, you marvel, you.

That is so good to pull out the band's performance from the "old" days. I just purchased this past Christmas the two cd release of John's concerts over two night back in1976 at the "Other End" in NYC. Loved that. I also had the fortune to see John and his last band in Toronto and Buffalo that was off the charts. I loved John introducing the band members and when he gets to his drummer really did not know why he did not have a drummer the last thirty years. So John Prine. It was great to see Fiona walk John off the stage after John's little jig on the stage in closing the show. Love you all at Oh Boy records to keep the lights on, so to speak. Ttyl, Al

I first saw John just as his first album came out. I was living in Milwaukee at the time . Me and a couple friends went to see him at UW Milwaukee campus. It was a small room with a movable stage set-up and there were about 200 people attending. I was in college at MATC in photography and had my black and white film and still cherish the photo I then printed in my darkroom. I’ve seen my concerts over the years from The Rolling Stones (twice), Led Zeppelin. Elvis, Bob Dylan , etc. I’ve seen John five or six times: Summerfest a couple times, Ravinia, Pioneer Center in Reno. John is still the most closest to my heart. The first time at UW Milwaukee was groundbreaking, jaw-dropping, you get the picture.

I have lines and verses, fragments of John's songs, floating in my head all the time when I'm not listening to him. Thinking about stringing the hodge-podge together to make a new song. Might be a hit. John was a keen observer of life, wordsmith extraordinaire, and made some of the prettiest music all by itself. I don't own any of his albums but listen all the time on KZbin and Pandora. Just set up the first song and see where it goes from there. I never tire of his music.
