The fictional death of Paul has been going for decades now. And the stories always change. One site claims there are recordings of him in a car with a lady, and they were arguing. Causing the wreck. Interesting that technology like that was available in the later part of the 60's. Soon we will see video from hidden cameras in the car. I imagine a huge amount of money has been made from that whole work of fiction. Paul lives on. The End. Even now. When I see and hear Paul I can still see that young master in his voice, his sense of humor and his magnetic personality. I had a dream once that I was having lunch with Paul and Linda. We were all pals. Hilarious 😂 but very cool.

@@dennisbishop3016 He DID get a #1 with LET IT BE. Could write music and compose. Something George admitted he couldn't do. George had a gift of doing it"in his head". Lennon was the same. JPM said they weren't trained musicians. They just wrote lyrics and melodies like George shared. Billy is very talented at impersonating, song writing. So , I agree. I didn't approve of them handling JPM'S death the way they did though. He was never given a proper acknowledgement or funeral. They just continued to earn millions after he passed away and gave BILLY his life accomplishments up to that point. I mean, why not just let Billy join the band and tell the world Paul passed? There is a reason that was given . This is even something many know, so that means he passed. It's just nobody wants to believe he is dead. Just like ELVIS. They say Elvis is still alive, but videos of Bob Joyce. I think his name is , sings and looks just like Elvis. He is a preacher. It's very convincing. He faked his own death. Paul ,however, is most likely dead. He was engaged to Jane Asher, but then he married Linda. Why? Because Jane knew it was Billy, not Paul. There was a story that Jane found Paul( Billy) in bed with someone ,but it was just to explain their breakup. The engagement was off. Then he could Marry Linda. Deception complete.Very SAD. Us oldtimers remember these details. PID has been known since '67. The original ABBEY ROAD VINYL RECORD under a black light is amazing. I could write all kinds of memories, but I won't. Have they even seen Paul performing "silly love songs" live? It literally has even more complex bass structure when compared to early beatles stuff yet he was able to pull it through perfectly almost without looking WHILE SINGING. Not to mention he was using a rickenbacker, a longer scaled bass than his usual hofner, which means it will certainly feel very different and not as easy to navigate through.

Hey Fil, the four Beatle characters were actually created by Tavistock in conjunction with EMI Records. The original actor/musicians to play them were Colin Unwin as John Lennon, John Halliday as Paul McCartney, Terry Johnson as George Harrison and Mark Graves as Ringo. Over the years, the original actors were gradually replaced, the big one being John Halliday being replaced by Tara Browne in late 1964 as Paul. It was actually Tara Browne that was killed in a car crash in 1966, and this event is well documented in the British mainstream media. Browne was replaced by Billy "Shears" Shepherd in 1966 as the new Paul and continues to play the role to this day. Colin Unwin as the original John Lennon, was replaced in 1968 by an actor/musician named Mark Staycer as the new John Lennon. The Lennon assassination was actually a staged event. The four Beatle characters never existed as real people, Mark Staycer has also continued to play the "John Lennon" impersonator role until very recently!

There's even a concert of the BEATLES that was filmed where one of the John Lennon doubles comes on stage during a performance and comes to to John when he is singing. John laughs at him and is quickly ushered away. All of them had doubles. Not all could actually play instruments and perform. Playing left handed can be learned, a right handed bass player learnt to play left handed for a Beatles tribute band. Would you happily give up 'artistic recognition' for £1 Billion? And who is to say that he writes those songs, at the very least he may have had a little help from his friends. If you look at Paul's career his only successes have had George Martin's involvement, Live & Let Die, Pipes Of Peace and the list goes on. Paul McCartney never looked at the bass while playing live, post 1966 he continually does so. Complicated bass on albums, simplified bass playing live. Photographs can't be compared, too easily manipulated. Italian forensics team set out to prove that it was all a hoax but were shocked to find many discrepancies. Not necessarily agreeing that he was replaced to continue the £ trillion business that is the Beatles just being devils advocate.

"If you look at Paul's career his only successes have had George Martin's involvement, Live & Let Die, Pipes Of Peace and the list goes on." Utter tripe. Paul produced all Wings albums with no help from George Martin. George helped to produce the song Live & Let Die but that's all as far as Wings goes. Question...do you think George would have continued to produce Beatles albums after 1966 knowing one of them was a fake? I mean he would know for sure if a replacement was playing Paul's part.

One thing that has always struck me as odd about the Paul is dead hypothesis: After the Beatles got popular, every music company out there were looking to find something or someone that could be "the next Beatles" and noone noticed this man that made such great songs, played equally well and had an incredible voice. It looked like The Beatles must have been the only one that did. Another interesting fact, given that he is an imposter, is of course that Mike McGear made a solo album in 1974 with the guy that stole his inheritance and his brother's place and still call him his brother and by his borther's name, make music with him, sings with him and uses his band as musicians. Mike didn't have to make that album, could have used other musicians, etc. No he did it because he love his living brother.

I had someone comment about how much volume I could get without moving my arm. The way Paul plays seems perfectly natural to me. The photos were purposely doctored yrs ago. There was a KZbin poster who took two profile photos of Paul pre-66 and after. His ear was visible and he overlaid the images on top of one another by matching/sizing the ear. If ear lined up and clicked back and forth between two photos, his head would not have moved, right? Instead, his chin dropped about half an inch when clicking back and forth. Meaning ear is not at same angle and it's not the same person. Another point: If you look at very closeup photos of Paul, he has the same arrangement of small moles and birthmarks, all the way from the Hamburg days, through the early 60s, through the late 60s, through the 70s and 80s ... even up to today. You have to look closely, because no one would really notice them otherwise, but they're there and consistent. I put up a number of photos once focusing on a sort of triangle of birthmarks that are right next to his nose on his left side, and two on his throat on the left side. If I could post photos here, I'd add them. One "Paul died" person insisted that was just a sign of the plastic surgery they did on "Billy" to make him look like Paul. I could only reply, "So they went to the minute, excruciating detail of adding a lot of subtle, almost invisible birthmarks that probably no one would notice ... but it didn't occur to them that "Billy" was four inches taller?"

I kind of bought into either the Paul is dead or retired theory after following Mike Williams 'Sage of Quay' You Tube Channel. Some things I have trouble getting past: 1)pre 1967 Paul had brown eyes, post 1967 Paul has green eyes. 2)Around the same exact time the switch supposedly happened the Beatles announced no more touring and no more public appearances. 3)The abundant album clues which have been explained away as coincidences or publicity stunts. They seem too numerous and intentional to be coincidences and it's hard to understand why the most popular band in the world would try to make the public believe half their songwriting team is dead. While I appreciate Fil's analysis, I have heard audio tracks isolated before of Paul pre 1967 vs. late 70's where the voices sound totally different performing the same song. The new voice much higher pitched and the old voice deeper. The speaking voices appear different to me also when viewing older vs. newer press conferences. I'm not 100% convinced either way, but it's fun speculating.

@@nthdegree1269 you hit one of the nails on the head as to why it's so hard to pin this "conspiracy" down on one side or the other. Things like eye color and skull shape typically don't change. But as in anything in life, we can always try to apply some "reasonable" explanation (the old 'its the wind' when something starts moving on its own in a quiet non windy room). One reason for Wired Magazine's conclusion that there was a switch was the skull shape. Original Paul round and cherub. New Paul elliptical ("You let your face grow long"). I honestly don't believe we'll ever ever know for sure because I suspect even if the current Paul said he was a replacement and even if he provided DNA evidence most people would not believe it. I think we tend to defend our beliefs whatever they are and tend to explain away what we don't want to believe. The theory, however, goes that Paul was more than likely in a car crash (although he had talked of retiring from the Beatles in the prior 2 years) and the Beatles handlers, more than anyone else, went into a mad panic. Half the songwriting team gone, one of the 2 primary vocalists gone, how could the money train keep going. A gentleman who had been in a Beatles copy band called Billy Pepper & the Pepperpots bore a striking resemblance, had far more formal musical training, knew the Beatles personally, and even wrote a book about the Beatles in 1964 published by Bantam, seemed like a perfect replacement. They refined his appearance at one of the World's most renowned plastic surgery centers at the time in Kenya, announced no public appearances or touring for awhile to keep things under wraps. The surviving Beatles signed non disclosure binding legal agreements but thought they would set the historical record straight by planting clues in the music and album art. People caught on quicker to these clues than anticipated. Tension mounted between the new Paul and John as John missed his childhood friend dearly resulting in an eventual break-up of the band. That's somewhat the way the prevailing theory goes. One thing is for sure, I'm confident regardless of whatever happens in the future, the world will never know 100% certain either way.

Being a Beatles fan, I've read, or heard that he was 5'11" and that George and Paul were the same height. Using that computer technique to move Paul along side of John doesn't quite work for me, for one, their feet are not standing evenly on the floor of the stage and their own unique stances on stage would make Paul seem taller. But if watching any live performances with them on the same mic,(George too) they're relatively the same height. Great objective analysis and the first I've seen from a musician's perspective. The first I heard of the 'Paul is dead' theory was back in the 60s when it was mentioned on one of the pop radio shows (I think it was Kenny Everett, but it's a long time ago). A few days later Paul turned up at the studio and joined the presenter to explain that he really wasn't dead. That was pretty convincing to me! The other factor, as with most conspiracy theories, is the number of people who would have to be complicit. In this case, there's the other Beatles, their wives, girlfriends, family, circle of friends, etc. There's all Paul's own family; there's the Abbey Road staff, the band's roadies and crew; Brian Epstein and his staff who all must have known Paul reasonably well. Add to that all the people who were directly involved in the cover-up: police and paramedics who attended; pathologist and their staff; someone would have had to falsify a death certificate and other people would have authorised a burial or cremation without the legal certification. Any one of those people could have sold the story to the tabloid press for a large amount of money at any time up to the present day. Aside from the financial incentives, anyone with a grudge could have spilt the beans. John at one of his bitterest moments would surely have done so. No-one has ever done so.

The number of Paul is dead / Faul/ Billy Spears comments on Beatles videos is ridiculous. I'Il be pointing some of them to this excellent analysis video. I don't know if some do it for fun or do they earnestly believe this nonsence? Great work Phil!

As an old hippie grandma who loved the Beatles from the day I first saw them on Ed Sullivan in 1964, I've been disheartened over he years with this conspiracy theory. Your explanation is the best debunk of that I've seen yet. Thank you! ❤

Fil, I don't know if you drink, but oh, how I'd love to buy you a pint or two for your heroic effort here! Huge respect for your ability to smile and laugh throughout your bulletproof analysis - but of course it's futile, for the exact reasons you lay out in the last minute and a half of your video. I grew up on the Beatles and was bemused for years by the imbecilic "Paul is dead" believers. But now, as an oldster American, I admit to a dark frustration over the slavish willingness of so many of my compatriots to believe in idiotic notions, from Trump's cruel and mindless blather to "Paul is dead." Logic and reason be damned. But as the American journalist H.L. Mencken wrote in 1926, "No one in this world...has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people." (As an aside to other Americans, this is an *accurate* quote of what Mencken wrote, as published in the Chicago Daily Tribune and other newspapers on Sep 19 of that year.)

The thumbnail is only proof that a double struggled to play left handed. The position of the fingers isn't right because Paul McCartney only used his left thumb and index fingers and his right thumb served as a plectrum. You're so right, SIR Paul may still be alive at 87 years old, but THE Paul McCartney has been gone since 1966. Anyone who takes an objective look at the hundreds of made-up pics on the internet can readily see that there's hundreds of versions of Paul. Plus, there are some video clips circulating that say the man who was knighted in 1996 is not alive, but the double had doubles. A very clever diabolical scheme that was busted ages ago. RIP PAUL MCCARTNEY 1942-1966

Hi Fil, Thanks for a fun journey on the magical mystery conspiracy tour! I have heard these rumors and rumblings for years! Never ever believed them… and as someone who loves watching crime investigation shows …. The TEETH Don’t Lie!!! Lol.. and if you don’t believe the teeth…the whole way you showed his pick holding hand and technique is more than convincing… Again you would make an excellent detective just like you did on the JCM video, was he or wasn’t he playing guitar? This is a cool and clever analysis video. You Are Amazing! Love Ya’ Debbie ☮️

Because getting a lookalike and teaching him to capture mannerisms and vocal tics at a level beyond the world's greatest actors and impressionists, teaching him to play many instruments left-handed, teaching him to exactly copy the voice of one of the greatest pop singers with one of the greatest vocal ranges, AND teaching him to write better songs than the guy he replaced (and arguably anyone else in the band) is so simple (and getting him to sign away the proceeds)! Not to mention John & George, his friends from teenage years, would have no problem lying about it, yet would also slip bizarre contradictory "clues" into songs and artwork...of course!

I've agued the "looking while playing" point with people before. In the early 1960s Paul was playing more straightforward bass lines of the sort that he had been playing for thousands of hours on stage. Additionally each individual song would have been played multiple times before it was first filmed. Later on in the 1960s he started playing more complex parts at the same time as playing them far less often. It's not surprising that he might glance at the fretboard more often when playing more difficult parts with less practice.

I dabbled with bass as a kid. I could play the fairly complex riff on Birthday and sing at the same time. Not boasting.... (Well maybe, just a bit😅)

The pre-1966 Paul sounds melodious and poignant singing 'Yesterday' - very moving. Post-1966 Faul sounds like a pub singer going through the motions whilst trying to remember the chord changes. Heather knows the truth!

I heard all of that back in the 60's, and all of the clues floating around, but I never bought into it. About a year ago, I listened to the tape recording made by George. It sure sounded like George to me, and he covered all of the clues we all heard back then and all of the new ones which I never heard about it. This left me stunned. John Lennon did seem to love back masking, but the biggest thing thing I thought about was what an amazing man the new McCartney had to be to pull this off. This new McCartney has to be more talented than the original, simply because of all the material he created after the Beatles broke up. This was the part I couldn't buy into. Anyone with this much talent would have been found because of the producers looking to make big bucks. There was something else going on at that period of time. Music producers were all looking for any white man who sounded like a black man. this was the holy grail at that time. Many were found by the way. Then you have the opposite. A black man who sounds like a white man. This was how Chuck Berry came up. He sounds like a white guy. His fans didn't know he was black until they saw him on the TV in 1959.
