Business school is so adamant about pulling the plug early rather than late for this very reason, its why so many unfinished games keep releasing. Virtually every business knows this, so the fact Sony has nobody left in the room to be the voice of reason is terrifying. MVP is not a point of sale target for business. Business should not be using that term at all. MVP is a development concept, in which the complexity of software is delayed until after the barebone functionality is established. The only reason it is a concept at all, is because businesses NEVER give developers appropriate time, power, or breathing room to build something of true value. Mechanisms of extreme cost (in dev time) for marginal return on product value, therefore get labelled as non-MVP. The purpose is to get business and management execs with no real skills or comprehensions, off the backs of the dev team so that they can do their jobs.

On top of that $21.7 million was channelled towards promotional activities such as trailer creation, influencer partnerships, and various marketing tactics. The comprehensive spending for the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077, inclusive of the expansion's cost, tallied up to $316 million. There's way more that goes into cost than just salary. But they mentioned most of the final work was outsourced to other companies, so that's probably a huge chunk

The outsourcing makes the money make sense. They were shipping dev off to random other studios a la Cart for over a year.

They moved the HQ to California so makes sense, they were probably still eating Ramen after bills in that hellhole

I would say that most of "devs" in firewalk are just designers with some basic skills, i wouldnt be surprised if their main dev team were outsourcing every process to more competent people. We are actually living in day and age, where idea can be created very easily if you have the money. I wouldnt be even surprised if menu and even models were made by 3rd party at this point. Its like sony and studios, except sony is not pushing the idea here.

“Go woke go broke” was so catchy, Sony said hold my non-alcoholic beer….
